DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Sorry to break the thread but two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Several injured and possible fatalities.

Hey no worries there, my friend. Thank you for the news! Reading about it now...

Same here. Update worked great but it did not retain my root.
Oh well, if there is a work around later I might worry more about it.

Interestingly enough, the speaker seems louder and more clearer now.
Agreed. I use the beginning of Jet City Woman for my other half's ringtone, and it's just bass and hihat in the intro. Before the update, I could barely hear it unless I was in the same room. It's MUCH better now. More compression maybe?

Perhaps, all I can say is today I feel almost like my Bionic has been reborn! Well done, dev team!

The Boston Globe server crashed. Thoughts & prayers to all those at the Marathon

For those who say it didn't keep root, did you update the su binary BEFORE protecting it? And what is happening when you try to restore it? And did you look at the long post I quoted a few pages back?

I thought I had with voodoo. When I restore it shows like all is fine and dandy but everything requiring root cant get access.

Hey all... Been following this thread for a long time. Thanks to all who have made it awesome. Sam and Ry... you guys are amazing!! And Reynaldo... YOU SUCK!!!! LOL... Anyhow, here is where I am at. Rooted .246 with HoB (thanks again Sam). Used SU to update binary from v1.15 : SUPERSU (0) to v3.1.1 (17). That is what SU shows on the info page. I have uninstalled SS and have Voodoo to protect root. I used TiBu to unfreeze all apps. Running stock rom. Does this all look good to go or is there anything else that I need to do before taking the OTA? Thanks again for all the info.

Sam, from what you can tell with testing so far, is this build ("22, mod w/o ISIS") essentially (if not hopefully exactly) what build 23 was?

Yes! The headphone "hiss" that reappeared with ICS, is gone! Looks like they wanted to leave Bionic owners with feelings of good will! :D

I wasn't scheduled for the soak but received and installed the OTA about an hour ago and (so far)
everything works pretty well.

Voodoo doesn't UPDATE su. That's what I was asking. You had to go into your superuser app and check for su updates BEFORE doing the protect with voodoo.

Should be ok.

Seems to be quite stable from what I'm reading around the interwebz. :D Once we get a root exploit I'm on this thing.

Yes. I did that. When you restore it, it says it worked and that you have root, but you don't. At least for me.

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

The high-pitched whine is gone. That's good. However, using certain equalizer effects, there is still background hiss during non-silent parts of music. This can be minimized by turning off 3D surround in the effects menu. Sounds pretty good with no surround and *bass punch*.
