DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Upgraded this afternoon from the link provided. Stock phone and not rooted. Everything worked smoothly without any problems. Re-synced with my corporate email account without problems. Will check more out tonight, but looks good so far.

I got root back!!! I found a way to get my su file back on XDA thanks to JimmyJamesBob. Then I tried the method posted by Samuri with adb shell again and it worked this time. YAY!! :) Thanks Samuri!!

How?

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

Why is my su binary update failing? Superuser downloads the update and installs, but when it checks the new build it fails

Do you need to know how to get the SU file back in /system/bin? Or help following the method posted by Samuri?

This is how you get the SU file backup from Voodoo back to the /system/xbin folder (I copied it to /system/bin as well just in case)

**Thanks to jimmyjamesbob from XDA for the following**
1. adb shell
2. /system/usr/we-need-root/su-backup
3. mount -w -o remount /system
4. cp /system/usr/we-need-root/su-backup /system/xbin/su
5. mount -r -o remount /system

My wifi is great 4g is great phone is working the same as on ics except it is buttery (pun intended) smooth. Has anyone found a way to get the wifi tether to work on JB yet my computer connected to it and the app showed data being used but I was unable to get on the internet.

I have not pulled the trigger to upgrade yet. I was curious since earlier in the thread there was mention of WiFi issues with legacy WiFi Access Points on the RAZR version of JB.

AH....I have an option for repair radio, but not webtop. weird.

In your FXZ folder do you have a vendor.img? You need that for webtop to show up as an option. It might be renamed as vendor.img.disabled in which case you need to rename it back. If its completely missing make sure you download the FULL FXZ from the HOB links.

ok i take it back wifi tether is now working my computer is connected to my bionic and I posted this on the tether.

Anyone seeing issues with WiFi?

From what I'm hearing, I think I'm willing to try taking the update. I'm currently rooted to prevent the ota update from being forced on me in case there were issues, but also have a Razr back home that I know for sure lost wifi connectivity to our router. I'd be willing to update and report back if the Bionic also suffers the issue (and from what Moto tech support told me, I think we should expect the legacy issues), but I kinda want to keep root now.

I thought it was kinda straight forward using Voodoo, but not so sure now with the talk of updating the Super SU binaries. I thought it did it on its own when it auto checked when opening the app, but the version numbers are older than what I saw someone else post and don't think I'm truly current to keep root.

Is there a step by step instruction list on how to keep root and update? I've seen a lot of posts about a single issue here and there, but it's all buried in this thread and getting hard to find and understand. I've tried looking about a little, but most posts seem to assume you already know how to understand these things but nothing on how to learn it in the first place.

How do you go to Google Now? I can use the search button on the bottom right of my phone, but that not only opens Google Now but also puts my cursor in the search box and opens my Keyboard. On my Nexus 7 I could swipe up from the Home button but that doesn't work on the Droid Bionic. So what's the best practice to just open Google Now, but not open the search dialog.

Jelly Bean seems faster than ICS was. I'm liking it so far.

Anyway to get Photosphere now that we're on Jelly Bean?
