DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

I was finally able to root my wife's phone using marty45714 simplified method on DroidRZR.com, but it turns out that I had my network set as NAT and it should have been set to BRIDGED so that was the problem all along why I couldn't connect to the samba share. Another success story although now that I realized the setting was wrong, I'm sure the VM Virtual method would have worked for me before. I also did a manual fastboot to my friend's phone because for some reason he didn't want to up the security in case he wanted back to ICS. I fastbooted the system.img, boot.img, preinstall.img, radio.img, vendor.img, recovery.img from the 22 fxz and he is showing no issues from me doing this. He could go back to ICS since I didn't flash the cdt.bin from 22 so he has a way back but I personal don't care, my wife and I are happy to be on JB permanently.

Thanks for the tip. I've got Liquid Smooth running right now, seems pretty sweet!

I'm loving the kexec CM10.1 so much I haven't even updated stock. Now that there's an easier root for JB I may finally try it this weekend. Going to try to save root through voodoo first but, at least now there's a safety net I'm more comfortable with.

Just make sure you update the binaries in superuser first then protect your root in voodoo and do not temp unroot before you update and you will be fine restoring root afterwards.

wow....2 full days and no Sam...the good old days are truly over LOL

I wish him the best. He is a nice guy, has helped me out of many predicaments with my bionic. This is the end of the road for me and the bionic as well. My wife and I got our new Nexus 4's today which I will be unlocking later.

he surely has helped a lot of people here, even when they were snippy with him. You are so right about wishing him the best as I'm sure we all do! I'm hanging onto the Bionic for as long as I can just because my wife won't let me (yes, I am whipped LMAO)

Good luck with the Nexus 4. It looks like a nice phone!

I'm still here. I haven't had anything to add. I'm working on a new version of the Linux House of Bionic and will hopefully release it as a VM image so that people can load it up, FXZ to their heart's content, root, etc. But it'll take a while to get it done.

So far the only drawback I hear about the S4 is that its Super AMOLED+ screen still has viewing difficulty in direct sunlight. Wonder why Samsung hasn't corrected this?
You know the S3 is a beautiful phone, however do a search for "S3 broken screen". I was amazed, the Samsung appears to be quite fragile, for the price they want I'm not going to be a test market. A lady here in the office cracked the screen on a 7 day old phone setting it face down, probably firmly but not dropped. The response was "you broke it". The case is unblemished, looks new (as it is). Just saying, people may want to give the S4 a chance to settle in.

Probably why they're going to offer a ruggedized version this summer. Also a reason I want Motorola to announce something soon, because my Bionic has withstood a great deal of wear & tear admirably. I believe that all Smartphones should be built durably enough not to require otterboxes (or the like) to protect them. Motorola hasn't let me down yet, in this aspect.

LOL, the other day I accidentally dropped my Bionic for the thousandth time in front a buddy of mine with the iPhone and you could see him cringe! I casually picked it up, and he was impressed with it not being damaged. My iPhones were very much fragile, especially when around moisture, unlike the "caseless wonders" I've seen with Moto Droids. Yes, the screen does have a few scratches (it has been mine since September '11) and the water damage indicator has long been red, but no cracks. That Gorilla Glass and chassis are truly superb in their build quality! Please, give me a reason to stick with Moto with the next flagship device...

So I have search all over the internet and I have found no one else that is having this problem. I updated my Bionic to 98.72.22 yesterday, I did same through FXZ. The update went through as it should and the phone is operational except for this. I have no access to my storage. Internal or SD Card. When I go to any File Manager it says that they are not mounted. In the stock file app it shows 0.00 gb for both Device storage and SD Card. I have flashed it twice so far just to make sure that it wasn't something going wrong in the process and I have came up with nothing. I have cleared the cache and done a factory reset without avail also. When I connect the phone to the laptop via usb, it pops up with the driver disk that is embedded in the device. When I was on the ICS leak 2233, I had no problems what so ever. I should have stayed on it. But I guess it my on fault for not investigating it more, until after I updated to find that you can't revert back to ICS, well at least I haven't found any way to do so.

Has anyone else had a similar issue or anything like it?

Nope. Not seen that. Pull the sdcard and see if can be read in another device. As for downgrading, no. Can't be done. This should come as no surprise to anyone given that ICS couldn't be reverted to GB, either. Yet people seem to be shocked by this news.

Yeah, I just wasn't thinking on that note about reverting.

Yes, I have tried it in another device. It reads fine in my old droid x, and my laptop. I even tried to see if I could redo the update in recovery, but it only shows ".." when you go to select the update.

Note that it isn't just the SD Card, I can't see the device memory either. When I go to Storage in the settings, it force closes with the unfortunately, settings has stopped crap.

So guys any ideas here, do you think that Motorola would support this issues, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try right?

I had the same issue, telling me that the SD card wasn't mounted and that the internal storage needed to be formatted. I tried all the tricks you mentioned but to no avail, BUT, when I formatted the internal memory it fixed both issues and I haven't had those error messages anymore. Been working great ever since then.

Nice video on this in Youtube. Turned out to be very easy to do (but pretty risky if you're worried about losing root). In safestrap, I Left 10.1 nightly on slot 1 and booted into Stock ICS ROM on the stock ROM slot. In superuser I updated binaries. Voodoo Rootkeeper - saved root. Temp Unrooted in Voodoo(not sure that part was necessary). Went into safestrap and "uninstall recovery". Went to Settings -> About --> update to 4.12 Jellybean. Once successfully installed - > Voodoo rootkeeper reestablished root. Reinstalled recovery in safestrap. Now have CM10.1 on Slot 1 and OTA 4.12 on stock Slot. Hope this helps someone.
V. happily running CM10.1 nightlies on my rooted bionic w Safestrap and the original OTA ICS on a different ROM Slot on the device. This thread is very complex for below avg guy like me. CM10.1 is still a little quirky yet as a daily driver (4/15 build). Worried about bricking if I upgrade my OTA ICS to the JB OTA. Eventually will it be possible to have the VZW JB OTA version rooted on one of the ROM slots w safestrap so I can still use one of the other ROM slots for other ROMs I want to try out like I'm doing now?
I realize that most of you are miles ahead of my understanding of this beast so I appreciate your patience.

Oh, yea, Sam. I sure did. Very careful not to do anything extreme without backing my stuff up first. I know you can relate. :)

I apologize for double posting. First time on this forum. I noticed my original message was for a different phone model.

My problem is this, when I leave internet explorer then tabs I had open and websites I visited are no longe there. Whenever I go back into Internet explorer only a single tab is there and its goes to my homepage. I liked it before when I would open internet explorer and my last visited webpage was open.
I checked settings in all that I could think of without any luck.
Any ideas?

Also I had a post it app that now has COMPLETELY disappeared. I had notes on my 'wallpaper' that are gone. This saddens me
