Droid Charge vs. Droid Bionic

I'm sure T-Bolt will figure it out sooner or later. When I 1st got my D1 it was bad and got better with every update.

My D1 is amazingly doing well. So my wait is not to bad but I yearn.

This "So the consumer can have a better experience is a canned thing for sure. And you can bet the Upstairs Cooperate boys have a dead line in mind. They are just good at keeping it quiet.

Personally I am holding out for the Bionic regardless of how long it takes. I purchased my Xoom last week and I have put this thing through hell trying to get it to lag or freeze and have not been able to so far. The battery life is amazing (it is only WIFI but I am on it constantly). So the dual core seems worth the wait for me. The other main factor that I am waiting for the Bionic is that Motorola seems pretty good about keeping their phones up to date with the latest android. I mean they are already talking about releasing 2.3 to the Droid X. I have the Samsung Fascinate right now and although I love the phone and honestly believe that the Super AMOLED screen is the best out there, I feel that they are horrible about updating their phones. Main reason behind this is probably because they basically release the same phone world wide. So we have to wait for the European and Asian countries to get their phones and updates before they even start working on ours. As far as the HTC I have never owned a HTC device so i cant comment on performance or how effectively they update. Considering the options I will be more than happy to wait for the Droid Bionic. I want the dual core if for no other purpose than being able to say I have a dual core phone and i believe that having it will help to offset some of the battery drain from the 4G. I also feel that Motorola will do a better job at keeping my phone up to date than Samsung. Just my 2 cents.

I will rather keep my Storm1 or get another used DX then get the TB. Before a friend of mine returned his I had it for a few days used it for work and other things. The Battery is just horrible. Did the same thing with my old DX it last all day long until 10 PM when I charged it. I would never recommend that phone to anyone. My friend coming fro and EVO had a lot of headaches the battery life which is a problem with HTC. Why should we have to buy extended batteries to have the phone work for a full day.
Even my Storm1 battery last longer with checking constant emails,FB, Twitter, and having to reboot it 5 times a day because of application errors. I will rather wait for the Bionic or maybe GS2. Now that my wife has my old DX she charges it every 2 days. Because she does not use it as much as me....

Me too. Sitting on a Storm 1 that has a battery life of two days while my friend had to put a hand crank on his TBolt :-)

I REFUSE to have my cellular device not be able to last the entire day.

I'm with you in staying with what I know of Moto.

It looks like to me Moto did some tricks to the D1 for battery life through out its updates. I'll be looking at 1 bar and no 3G and then make a call and there it is, 3G and a bar or two. Its like it checks every so often instead of constantly looking and smoking the battery. The same for Bluetooth. My early version D1 would start showing drain rightaway and and now its not until I interface between two BT devices. At least it looks this way to me.
I'm wondering if the Bionic will allow the multitasking we hear about?

Um... mine lasts an entire day. I had a Storm 1 and I am SOOOO thankful that I didn't wait for the Bionic. I would be pulling my hair out right now if I still had my Storm.

I am sorry but The Thunderbolt Battery is garbage. Yes I have headaches but would rather have a headaches and be patient then to settle for a phone because I am inpatient... I am glad you are happy but I would not be with that phone. If it was Dual Core and did not have battery issues like some other HTC phones then maybe. But it stinks. Dual Core is the future Single core is the past. I will wait on the Bionic/Targa or GS2 if it is Dual Core.

Can someone remind me why we are waiting for the Bionic?

2 > 1

Also, in most of the reviews I have seen for the Charge, they mention that there's a little latency when switching between screens and apps and things like that. I want a new phone, especially if I'm going to pay $300, to fly. Doesn't seem like the Charge does.

I have the Incredible now. I'd like my new phone to at least have better specs than my year-old phone and not just be bigger and have 4G

Yup, I played with a Charge the other day and found it to be laggy when switching home screens and such. Like you, I have the Incredible and it is actually smoother, which is...incredible. I wasn't blown away by the 4G internet speeds of the Charge either. Both of the cameras (front & back) were very good though, and that SAMOLED+ screen is absolutely gorgeous. I feel pretty confidenet in saying that the Bionic will be the better phone overall...though not as nice as the upcoming GSII, assuming you can live without 3G (still keeping my fingers crossed for a 4G miracle though).

the perfect phone right now that i'd be happy with would be the HTC Samsung-rola Galaxonic-Bolt Nexus S 3:

- 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display
- Dual Core 1.2Ghz Tegra 2 processor
- 32gb internal with 32gb microSD included
- 1gb of DDR2 RAM
- HTC Merge type slider with full qwerty keyboard
- Form factor of the Samsung Galaxy S 2
- 2000 mAh battery
- Android 2.3 Gingberbread with option to switch Sense 3.0 or TouchWiz 3.0
- Superuser ROOT Access from the get-go
- Zero Bloatware
- Skype and Google Voice with video chat pre-installed
- 8MP camera and 1080p video recording
- 4G LTE

there must be a prototype phone like this lying around somewhere in Google's offices. maybe in sergey brin's office?

yah. can samsung, htc, and motorola combine their technologies and create this phone? thanks!

It's not easy being Big Red

I wonder if a part of the reason why VZW customers constantly gets screwed with phone selections is due to the fact that Big Red is the only major player to operate on a CDMA network while the rest of the world is on GSM. Manufacturers probably make a good ?business decision,? and design for the needs of the many, rather than the needs of the few, or the one...Ugh! All I want is to have good service on a "relevant" phone while surfing the web and talking simultaneously. Is that too much to ask? :'(

Funny thing though.. LTE is the successor to GSM, not CDMA.

So this might be changing.. I can only hope so.

Sprint is on CDMA and had one of the best Android devices to date from HTC.

As for waiting on the Bionic, you shouldn't. I have a Xoom WiFi. I can play the TegraHD apps on this, and that would be the better option, imo. I am personally waiting for the Samsung GSII Function. The screen tech is amazing. Charge has the same screen, but there are too many things that I have personal issues with (RFS instead of ext4, physical construction, RAM...).

I got sick of having my Storm 1 (9530), so i took the plunge and picked up a Charge 2 days ago.

So far,
battery life has been much better then i expected;
Today I unplugged it at 6:30 am
Made 15 phone calls through out the day
27 text messages
6 out going email and a few incoming
Played angry birds for an hour or so
navigation for a 1/2 hour
7 widgets running all day
screen at full blast
a few random web searches
4G time 8 hours, 3g 7 hours and still going
I am still at 60% battery at 9:30PM.

I have been waiting for a long time for the bionic to come out, but i cant stress how happy i am that i jumped to this phone and ditched that BB. This Charge dose everything i need a phone to do and a whole lot more.

Sorry for the long post,
but for your average user this phone has plenty of battery life, speed and performance.

P.S.
This screen is F'ING AWESOME.

From the videos and pictures ive seen of the bionic i am soooo glad that the charging port is up towards the top of the phone. My DX is down towards the bottom of the phone and i can't put it in my cup holder when i have the charger plugged in nor can i hold the phone in my hand when its charging.

I played the waiting game long enough, and finally 'settled' on the Charge... honestly couldn't be much happier with it right now. I think I got myself caught up in all of the specs of the original Bionic, and now I'm sick of not knowing what we're even waiting on or when it might appear. The fact of the matter is, the Charge is PLENTY of phone for everything I've used it for thus far. I'm not a gamer, so I'm not positive that the extra horsepower is really going to accomplish much for me (maybe I'm wrong, but I'm a bit sceptical)

Truth, I would have loved to see better specs on the Charge, but honestly, I'm not sure it would have done anything extra for me. This Charge does everything SO well thus far, I haven't had any lag or lack of performance... the only thing that I'd like to see improvement on is the 4G battery life, as I have to be pretty aware of it to make sure it gets through the entire day without a charge. 3G battery life tested to 20hrs yesterday (yes, I stayed up to see :) )

I say, unless you are a huge gamer, the Charge is going to be a phenomenal phone for you.

yes!!

in settings under mobile network, There is a system section where you can choose LTE auto or CDMA only mode.

very simple to turn off 4G on this phone.
