Droid Incredible Shipping?

Ok, so I understand everyone's fustration with waiting for their phone, I am waiting for mine also. What I don't understand is that people are surprised about the shortage? I mean come on. The Droid Inc was the the first product with extreme shortages on launch. Look at the Nintendo Wii, PS3, etc. It's not Verizon's fault they are not the one causing the shortage. Trust me, they want to get the phone to you ASAP! I laugh everytime I see someone post "I am getting tired of Verizon" or blaming them for the shortage.

Everybody just chill, it's a phone your life is not going to end if you don't get it now. The more you rush it, the worse it will be as they slap these phones together to get them out the door and quality goes down.

You are correct! My biggest beef was seeing all the East coast shipping and no love for the West...

I'm in Arkansas and ordered online early morning on the 12th and still no shipping information for me. When I ordered it, the website said i would have it by the 28th at the latest. Where are all the shipments for the south?
 
Doesn't seem to be allot of emails going out today...

Wonder who will be the first that ordered on 5/15 or 5/16...

I've learned a special lesson today: that the VZW reps know nothing ahead of when things will ship.. I called up today and the lady I spoke with told me that it would ship on June 17th (I ordered on May 14th), so we went back and forth, I had to explain to her that the June 17th date is for NEW orders being taken today, not for orders that were processed almost 2 weeks ago.. she kept disagreeing with me and said all orders will ship on the 17th... I politely asked to speak with the Internet Orders department, she put me on hold for 6 minutes, came back and said she spoke with someone in Internet Orders and that the ship date would be the 3rd... Just out of curiosity I asked if me getting billed for this was any indication of being shipped soon (I had it billed to my VZW account when I ordered and it posted yesterday to my bill) - she said no, and I commented how I thought it was odd I was being billed for something that hadn't shipped yet, most companies don't do that. She said "yes they do, its very common...." I replied and said that in my experience when I buy things that are backordered they may put a hold on a CC or something but never been billed for something without a concrete shipping date, and she said "Have you ever bought something from eBay, you pay right away and don't know when you'll get it.". I was speechless. She actually compared the company she works for to eBay. When I got my thought process working again I said "if I buy something from Target and its on backorder, I don't get charged until it ships..." She then said "well, thats the way it is, you don't have to pay that part of your bill if you don't want to". I wasn't even going to get into it with being hit with late fee's, etc - granted, my bill isn't due tomorrow, so I'm wasn't going to argue with the lady, but it made me realize that until the person (or robotic arm) pulls my Incredible off a shelf and slaps a Fedex sticker on it, no one at Verizon knows anymore than I do about when it'll ship.

Yet, I do know two things:
1) I ordered on the 14th, live in the Northeast and won't see this thing 'til after Memorial Day.
2) I was too quick to sell my Tour, cause I had to ship it out today and going back to my Pearl is tough.

They don't know what is going on. They chared my CC the day I ordered. I ordered 5/13 on the phone, just got shipping info to be delivered 6/1, from Ontario, CA to Baltimore, MD, don't know why its coming from CA, all other northeast orders were being shipped from West Chester, PA..not going to try to figure that out, just happy its on the way
 
I'm perfectly fine with waiting, and I'm one of the more recent orders (23rd), but I do think Verizon could learn from this and handle it differently in the future.

For example, updating their online order status to show where you might be in the que, or when the expected ship date is would save us all from worrying, would probably get them more orders as people wouldn't say "well **** it will be a month before I get it", and would drastically cut down on the impact on their call center.

But that would be learning from your mistakes - something large companies don't do seem to do anymore.

It would be nice if you purchased one too and were waiting if the company at least emailed you about why there are shortages and kept you in the loop. This too is not entirely difficult.
