Hello - new member to the Android Central community (well, current status is technically only a wannabe ? but hope to be a more ?official? member after actually receiving my Incredible in the next day or few.)
I?ve been following this thread for a while now as a form of hope/therapy/sympathy that my patience will pay-off. Thank you all for sharing the regular updates, and words of encouragement on holding-out for an Incredible to be shipped.
To contribute my order experience, now that I have just received email with tracking number:
Ordered in store: 6/12
Estimated ship: 6/28, then quickly bumped to 7/9-ish
Actual ship: 7/8, notification Email 7/8 mid-day
FedEx Delivery ETA: 7/9
My Location: Ohio
FedEx Origin Facility: Memphis TN
As a side note, after seeing recently that orders placed after mine were are shipping and that a few others have commented on this, and even though additionally I am technically right on top of my revised shipping date, I made call to VZ late this morning and nicely asked some pointed questions like:
I?m a pretty fair/reasonable guy and am not calling to rant and rave, so can you tell me where I stand ?really? in the queue for shipping, what is my ?real order status? since I?ve seen others after my order date receiving devices? Should I assume that new customers (port-ins) are being fulfilled first, and a longtime existing customer takes less priority since I?ve been on your books for several years (BTW - I actually wouldn?t fault VZ for this as a smart business practice ? just expect realistic order status for me)? Also, can you tell me how many devices VZ is shipping weekly, 50/1000/5000, etc.? What sort of backorder counts are there really? Is it a significant number of people, or since the device shortage was/is so monumental that everyone else cancelled and moved on to other devices and now I am really just one of only 50 people holding out that HTC is scrounging screens for on their lunch hour off of Ebay?? If I really do want to get a device like this, is Sprint my best option today?
Now, maybe it?s just the heat (not as bad here in Ohio as in other places, but still hot this week) that has been making my patience wear thin, but had begun to question a few things after not being satisfied with more solid commitment on true fulfillment status. I like to think I am reasonable ? just prefer a solid/realistic commitment on status (don?t give an estimate you think you?ll miss.) I was as pleasant as possible with the CSR (lesson learned long ago ? be nice as the CSR at any company has all the power and choice to go above and beyond to make your day better or worse. I can attest to benefiting many times by trying to be different from normal callers that just complain and yell.)
Coincidence or not, I received shipment notification with an hour of my call (very likely a coincidence I am afraid.) I am thrilled and relieved that I am closer to receiving my device, but will likely have lingering thoughts that maybe VZ does have a customer satisfaction nightmare on their hands and they are fire-fighting the issues with callers as they hear from them. Time will tell, as I can only imagine they and other providers are at the mercy of the makers like HTC/Motorola/Etc. with other new devices coming soon and may be concerned about meeting customer demand/popularity (a good problem overall for them to have, but still a problem.)
Ok, I apologize now after re-reading. What was intended as a quick contribution on order/shipping status kind of developed into sharing other thoughts ? please excuse. But, I guess I can figure that since you are reading this thread, you (like me) have had quite a bit of time on your hands as you are also awaiting your device?
I?m now going to go adjust the AC down a notch and get some more lemonade?while I refresh the FedEx tracking page hourly. After device arrives, maybe life will return to a more reasonable state.
