KitKat won't do any good for it then. Blocks write to external storage by apps.

Same thing happened with the app I use for backup--Super Backup. It changed the path to some circuitous mess that when edited back to storage/sdcard1/.... it worked fine. This is only one of the irritations I've found with kitkat. I could live with that, but I can't live with the degraded wifi and 4g performance. Jury is still out on battery, but indications are that it is poorer under kitkat. Sometimes I think that Google wants to keep writing code, just to justify their existence. I wish we had a choice in accepting these "change for the sake of change" updates.
Edit: I thought I'd better post to correct this post regarding Super Backup (SMS Contact backup). Turns out that editing the path back to the old location only worked to read. The app could not backup (i.e. write) to that location. The app's author did his due diligence and created the
required folder on the sd card, and that's the
only folder it can write to (on the sd card). I now understand the logic for google doing this--it's a security thing. I can live with it, but those who use apps that haven't complied with the google requirement to write only to the specific folder will have to wait for the app authors to catch up. I still don't like kitkat--my battery life is horrible, and wifi sucks as well.
