Well if you are prone to dropping your phone often, an expensive large-screened smartphone may not be for you. Just because the Droid or Moto Shadow is mostly made of metal compared to the Incredible, doesn't mean it's less prone to the screen shattering on impact from a fall.
Anecdote: My mom slightly tripped while holding her iphone 3g and it kind of slipped out of her hand and went sailing through the air (she was standing in the middle of the kitchen with marble floor) the iPhone dropped onto its screen at an angle such as that the screen hit the ground flat and luckily NOT A SCRATCH on the phone/screen. She was very lucky, I would have in that instant bet $1000 anyone that the screen would have been destroyed. Good thing I didn't.
Man I'm torn I want to ditch my Storm and get a Droid phone but I drop my phone every once in awhile so the Incredible scares me from what I've seen it does not stand up to a drop.. (And no I don't want to get a case, cases add bulk and I don't want a bulky phone) Now the Moto Droid2 is tempting I'll have to see what it looks like when it is finally released and the specs are set in stone..
You won't be sorry switching from your Storm. I wasn't when I switched to the Droid. Moto makes higher quality phones than HTC imho. I know people who have repeatedly dropped their Droids, and except for some scuffs and dents, they are all fine. No broken glass like the Incredible. Moto uses Gorilla Glass, which is extremely durable and shatter resistant. I carry mine without a case or a screen protector and it looks just fine. I am looking forward to the Xtreme. I don't use the keyboard for anything except some rooting operations and I want the bigger screen. The only thing I may wait for is someone to root it.
Does the Xtreme reportedly have a slide out keyboard or is the keyboard virtual?
^^ i feel the same way love metal housing feels durable.
So is a front facing camera the hardware change that was supposed to delay this phone don't much care about a 2.0ghz processor or nvidia gpu just want something I can video chat on. And not run Android 1.6
