DROID Shadow pre-release thread

Guys, this thing doesnt even have a snapdragon. It has a 700MHz ARM processor . The larger screen and HDMI are nice, but in a year or so down the road you will probably want the better processor.

I'm still very happy with my Inc, and the Shadow doesn't look to change that

Let's see this processor is better than the one in the current crop of HTC phones it will turn out the same numbers while using less power and producing less heat. Now lets not forget the snapdragon is barely making a case for is barely making a case for its self when you put it next to the 3440. Until the 45nm versions of the snapdragon comes out I fear its just over rated. Oh and lets not forget the omap 3440 does still have a better gpu than the current crop and the 3630 gpu is clocked higher

Agreed.

Let's hope soon but July Aug seems the most likely. Its all good though gives them time to finish froyo and launch it with the device

Damn - I just bought a Droid this week (new Verizon customer due to the ATT iPhone) and then come home from VZW to see the rumors about the Shadow. I would like to see the Shadow in final form but it looks like now it's going to be July/August before rollout - well outside of my 30 day window. Guess I could always sell the Droid and buy it at full retail.

If you really want a Droid Shadow/Extreme you could just cancel the Droid you have now, get a cheap prepaid phone and hold out till it comes

The processor in the Shadow IS the better processor. It uses less power, with less heat, and significantly better performance than the current QSD processors in the HTCs. (check out the Quadrant mobile app; the performance of the Shadow is at least twice that of the Droid Incredible)

You guys really need to understand that clock speed these days does not indicate a platform's total performance. Even though the Shadow's processor 'only' has 720 MHz, it is as fast, if not faster, than any current Snapdragon smartphone.

He speaks the truth. Its no contest. Its too bad alot of people don't understand how this works and will not get the phone with the better processor only because of the numbers.

I think when the phone is actually officially discussed by Verizon, people will start to see that this is the better phone. It will just take some proof for them to actually see that that is the case.

ok dont read to much into the quadrant app test im pretty sure that the shadow in that test is running froyo. ive seen others running froyo with the d1 they did the quadrant test and got around 835 so the processor in the shadow is better than the d1 but needs to pull the speed up some to touch the 2.2 nexus
edit
ran quadrant again and the shadow now shows its running eclair so does the galaxy s. which is a great thing it performs better than the galaxy

Well, if the rumors are that the Shadow is actually the Droid 2 and the Extreme is what we thought was the Shadow (which is the latest rumor btw), then the Extreme will have the new Motoblur, and the Shadow (droid 2) may or may not have it. (but most likely not) ALL of the leaked pictures of the Extreme (nee Shadow) show a revised motoblur interface.

Motorola Droid Shadow and Xtreme Show Up On Verizon's System

No the shadow is the extreme the droid2 is the droid2
The shadow/xtreme will have blur

Not according to the new information. What we thought was the Shadow is in fact the Xtreme. The Droid2 will be called the Droid2 Shadow, or simply Droid Shadow.
