Droid X has officially launched!

My girlfriend slowly and painfully killed me when I got my MotoDroid and talked about it every day fro three weeks.

Hopefully she makes it quick and painless this time through

Agreed. I got to play with one today, Verizon had a booth setup at work. Its just as amazing as expected. Snappy as ever, full of features, large, and suprisingly light. My only gripe is the actual buttons instead of what the Droid had - they just seem cheap. Also since I am coming from a Droid they are not in the same place. Very minor gripe compared to what the phone actually is. And I was impressed the rep was knowledgable enough to tell me it had a 1 gig core, but he called it the Snapdragon. Oh well. Guess this is my nerd side coming out.

My Verizon store is already out of Droid X phones

I just don't understand how people get these phones held for them. I go in the store and ask about the Droid X and they deny that is exist and then a couple of weeks later just before the launch I am told that they are all taken. So this is the second launch that I have been left out of on launch day. I have to order the phone and wait.

Cool. Thanks. Probably not a bad idea. My wife doesn't share my enthusiasm, but I know she'll be pumped once she has the Droid X in hand. Good thing we're both early risers.

I think all the carriers have shown they are not well-equipped for big launches. The Incredible, EVO, and iPhone 4 all had rocky launches, including activation problems because of overwhelmed systems. All the more reason Verizon should take pre-orders and have people come choose a block of time to pick up and activate the phone. It's as if the stores thrive on confusion and hysteria.
