Droid X has officially launched!

Hehe, I can't wait for my Droid X! I even went on AppBrain and made a list of apps I wanted to be on the phone. I read a lot of forums on the X! I can't wait to see what cases become available for the phone. Overall, I'm really excited for the phone and I can't wait to have it in my hands this upcoming week! Cheers! :)

:( you guys are lucky by 2-6 hours. I'm in Hawaii so ill be getting mine last lol. 5 more days!!!

I might have to find a different store to go to on launch day.

I'm thinking the same thing. They weren't rude but it just seems like they should have one. I mean if VZW would put it in one store, I don't understand why our's wouldn't have it. It is a HUGE store that people from counties around us come to for svc.
Just wanna touch it. :D

On the other hand, you are in Hawaii, so who really are the lucky ones, eh?

You comment raises another question - when does Verizon really flip the switch to enable online orders, midnight EDT, perhaps for everyone?

Lol, good point.

In the past, Verizon has flipped the switch at Midnight. Since they aren't taking pre orders, I think the store is going to be the fastest way to get it.

Edit: FWIW, that's midnight EDT. I was able to place my Incredible order the night prior at 9PM PST.

Aren't we still on Daylight Time, not Standard Time?

[This was supposed to be in addition to my last post last night, but the servers and website were being all weird and weren't letting me post, so.....]

And to make it worse, I went back in a few minutes later to ask if they had any phone that was comparable to the LG Lotus from Sprint (My mom thought it looked cool. She doesn't do smartphones, just needs a big screen and be able to text). They had no idea what I was talking about. Now I know I was in a Verizon store, but I would think you would at least know other carriers phones so you could show a customer something comparable. Then they mentioned the Nokia Twist but quickly said it was discontinued. And there were two salesman/workers behind the counter that were laughing hysterically. I can only imagine it was at me since I went to school with one of them. Just felt awkward to stand there and have them look at me like I was an alien from another planet. Not a good feeling and especially so after the whole Droid X debacle.

I had some time with one a while back, my threads still on the forum somewhere, but yeah, your right, not near as bad if you havn't messed with one yet.

The phone is huge... but thats not a bad thing. And the home and menu buttons threw me off being reversed. I watched a video and played with the browser. Any doubt in my mind about ditching the incredible/sense UI is gone.

Yeah, I like the X's layout better personally, but it would be cool if there was a way on older touch capacitive buttons to change which one did what, and instead of being a set design they were little screens under the buttons so they changed based on layout.

sigh. will be a long week for me as well. especially wednesday, as i am off work and literally have nothing to do all day

I think it makes sense to have the home key first and the menu next to the back/return. Maybe its just what I'm used to with the eris/incredible.

Anyone that's turned off by the physical buttons has nothing to worry about either they are solid but not stiff. If that makes sense.

I also found no problems with the camera button. I was sort of worried. There was reports that the camera doesn't re focus once you focus it. and that the button was stiff.. Its just like a digital camera. Push the button half way and it focuses push it all the way to snap the picture. if you push it half way let go and push it half way again it will refocus. As far as the camera menu goes i've heard negative things about that but didn't think to try it out.

Agreed, I just think that the people that are bashing the buttons saying they don't feel right only say that because they're used to touch capacitive so going back to buttons after touch capacitive must feel very strange.

GTvert90 and/or MolecularGraph: sorry if you answered this somewhere already, but did either of you hold the phone up to your ear? I've read doing so feels rather awkward. The same article pointed out that the speaker phone sounds muffled when it's lying on it's backside, because the speaker gets covered up, which is the first time a reviewer had said that. I talk on the phone a lot for work, and a good quality speakerphone is essential for me.

I wish I had so I could answer that for you, but knowing Motorola, that doesn't seem like a likely thing... Not to bash said reviewer, but maybe he/she is just more used to something even more clear, so going back to the normalcy that is Motorola was a change? Personally I wouldn't worry about it too bad, as I'm sure that its just fine.
