Droid X pre-order from Best Buy

My first time buying phone from BB too, I wasn't told about an appointment. I just want to activate my X, pay for it and hurry home!

Spidey, a friend of my works at the Verizon call center near me and she said I should be able to use my Annual Upgrade, said it should be about $200 for it as well, so we'll see..my 2 yr isnt up until July 4th, 2011.

I know i can get my annual upgrade, i meant i just can't get it at BB. I'll call them today and ask to make sure. I'll report back if i hear different.

My BB told me they would be calling to setup appointments; I was only the 4th person to order one last Monday so they said it would be early. If you already have a Verizon line it should be just pick up and go...you can *228 and activate it yourself. Should only have to hangout if you are totally new to them.

The 15th can't come fast enough!

So I went to BB this afternoon, and ran through the steps in picking up the phone and any potential issues. (since knowing myself and how things usually go, not well, I like to take as many preventative steps as possible to eliminate any problems) Being that I was going to be using my wife's upgrade, as I did with my Incredible, I wanted to make sure that their wasn't going to be a problem. Well, apparently BB is going to have a Verizon rep on hand to work through any issues on the physical release day. Otherwise she said that it "could" present a problem if the VZM rep was not otherwise there. So I will keep my fingers crossed that day, and be prepared to run over to the VZM retail corporate store.

I pre ordered mine today. I was the first in my local BB. They didn't know about it until I ask the guy about pre ordering the Droid X. He checked the computer and said I guess we are. He told the rest of the staff about it and he told me I started some excitement in the store, so him and I both were excited.

+1 on this, I too had to inform the best buy employee about the pre-order and I went Saturday. I just hope they are sure to put my pre-order on top.

Making the jump from Blackberry storm to the droidx and when i pre-ordered from BB today they said Motorola should be able to fill the demand they never let down. So i'm hoping that means i'll get mine on launch day. I'm gonna hit the local Verizon store on launch day to get one for my wife and if they allow me to grab one for my self i plan to do that and just eat the $50 bb gift card to get accessories.

I could have sworn I read something about not being able to use "buddy-upgrades" on this promotion. I know in general they suggest it as a solution, but I think I read it MUST be activated on the eligible line. Don't see why you couldn't activate it on the line then just swap them, but just mentioning it so you don't get let down on release day. I'd try to get confirmation with customer support, and get a name/badge number. Good luck though, hope you can get it.

I will let you know....I will get it done one way or the other. I will be damned if I am going to be stuck with this Storm for more than two weeks...after I teased myself with the Incredible...you know what I mean :)

Pre-ordered at BB yesterday, had to do the $50 gift card. They didn't ask me about the upgrade or anything. I may have to go back and make sure their isn't any issue. VZM store said they were not taking any pre-orders on the X and mentioned that I should go to BB. I will find out tomorrow.

I just called my local BB and was told you can't upgrade early. You have be at your two year mark in order to upgrade. I guess I'll be at VZW on the 15th.

Pre-ordered the X last monday, can't wait. The BB here stated that they will do it by appointment for the pre-orders (I was #4 on the list). The guy that helped me stated that it would probably arrive at the store on the 13th or 14th, but no promises.

Also, he did say that I had 30 days to return it, with no questions asked and walk away. he didn't mention any fees if it was returned.

I was going to order the Inc, but once I heard about the X, I dropped the Inc. I'm sooo tired of my Storm, and can't wait. I already have the Storm on ebay. lol

That is what I was told as well, but at the BB location that I pre-ordered from will have a VZM rep there which will be able to "OK" the upgrade just as they would at the corporate retail store. I would think they would have reps at a lot of BB around the country.

I just contacted VW and they told me I should wait the couple of extra weeks (August 8th) and save myself $100 so I can get my NE2. I was hoping they would let me upgrade a few weeks early with the NE2 but no dice - but then again I didn't push it, so you never know. As much as I want to get rid of my POS Storm1 the VW rep was right and I am going to hold off till August 8th to order online through VZW.

She also said they don't foresee any production issues from Motorola so no worries about going online and ordering after launch date.

Too bad because I was the first person to pre-order at my local Best Buy, I will just use the $50 gift card toward accessories for the droid x. I thought waiting until July 15 would be hard now I will be waiting until August 8th and deal with battery pulls, duplicate texts and freezing - argh but $100 bucks is a $100 bucks!

Might I ask how long you've been with VZW or what type of plan you may have? My family has been with "Big Red" since 1998 and I know they are usually great about bending over backwards to loyal clients. I managed to push my NE2 date from July 21st to the 15th without any hesitation from the CSR I spoke to yesterday.

I'd suggest doing the same, I mean considering you're obviously willing to stick with Verizon for at least another two years.

First at my local BB. Yeah i know it was last week but im just so excited. I want this phone!!!!

I will confirm that yes, BB has halted all pre-orders from today on forward due to Motorola manufacturing issues.

Also note: The original alottment that BB was supposed to get was cut by more than half. My contact at BB Corp stated that as many as half of the pre-orders already taken will not be honored.

Figured as much.

......
Does that mean that Motorola is experiencing quality, or part availability issues that are stopping or slowing manufacture, or perhaps that the demand is greater than anticipated, so that pre-orders simply can't be satisfied on launch date? I'm hoping for the latter.
