Dropped ...3.5 feet later

That $175 is an extremely fair deal. Comparing to Apple, where you're paying $99 up front for the AppleCare+ and then $50 for a replacement phone, it's a nice gesture, because you don't have to get the insurance up front.

I wasn't aware that they made anything available for the Nexus until after the fact. It is a viable option. I just gotta figure out how bad I want another. And make sure that if I do get one, not to put it in my front pocket while bending over to put on my boots...

And to think there are people so stubborn that they'd rather break their phone than buy a $20 case. Must be nice when money is no object, and they just go get a new one.

Even if I was a multi-millionaire, I would use a case just because I think phones without them feel too thin and light. A case gives me some substance, and a feeling of security.

And to think there are people so arrogant they think they know what's best for everyone else.

Option 1: $175 to have it replaced with a "like new" device in an unknown amount of time.

Option 2: $250 deposit, plus $175 for a "like new" device within 4-5 business days. Deposit to be returned upon receipt of damaged goods.

Option 2 is the way to go, if you can manage the additional $250 deposit hold. As to it being "like new," at this point I highly doubt they'd have much refurbished stock at this point (ones like yours being returned are what will seed that stock, and there can't be too many cases as of yet), so you might well get a "new" one.

In either case, I recommend confirming with them what the warranty is on the replacement (e.g., is it 90 days, a year, or the balance of the original phone's warranty).

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. I might get lucky. I will definitely be checking what the warranty is.

Not stubborn. Case is in the mail.... I don't think I have to explain getting the new hotness and using it to you, do I?

you MIGHT have to explain it to Eddy, and when u do, speak very, very, slowly.... (he's kinda hard headed) j/k, don't even know the guy, just know he passed judgement on me wanting a white Nexus 6 over the navy...grrrr ..lol

anyway, seriously tho, i always say the most dangerous time for a phone is like the FIRST 48 hours since
A) you aren't used to handling it
B) you are using it non-stop...
C) case usually doesn't come in as quickly as phone

sorry to see ur pics, i know its "only a phone" but gut-wrenching nonetheless : (

I don't think there's anyone who chooses a broken phone over a $20 case... So, obviously, no need to be a jerk about it. (And by the way, a case doesn't guarantee no issues after a drop.)

I've owned smartphones for like 6 years now. I rarely use a case, and I've never broken a screen. As a matter of fact between myself, my wife, and my two kids... Only one screen has been broken over the years. My wife knocked her G2 off of the bathroom counter right on the ceramic tile. Guess what... it was in a case. Not an OtterBox, mind you, but not a cheap bumper either. I spent $60 on a new screen, installed it myself, and you'd never know it had a problem.

So, It's not "stubborn" nor is it "money is no object". It's a choice. I understand the risk, and I often choose the benefits of not using a case.

Now... All that being said, I have not received my N6, and I already have a case in hand. But it's a nice thin one, more for protecting the phone from normal wear than drops.

That's actually a really good price when you consider it against the monthly premiums and deductibles you pay through the carriers...

Got three cases on the way and the phone won't be here til Wednesday

Diztronic Matte Black TPU Case
Spigen Slim Armor Case
Spigen Air Cushioned Bumper

I really hope that you get a soltuion and a phone. Sorry that you had to go through this! My N6 will be here tomorrow but my case won't be here until Dec 9th.. -.- well shipped on Dec 9th. Think im going to get Squaretrade insurance on it just in case it doesn't last until then even still a case isn't a guarantee

I have two Spigen cases the leather folio and the slim armor with kick stand. I called square trade as well and they have a special going on now for 99 dollars for a two year warranty covering everything except lost and stolen. There is a deductible of 70 dollars I think. If you want a case today AT&T is carrying the two Case Mate cases in their stores along with a tempered glass screen protector.
