Ordered my Thunderbolt case on Friday and isn't suppose to arrive till Tuesday but of course in the meantime I drop my phone which cracks the screen

I have insurance with Verizon. Will they replace it with a new one at a Verizon store? Or do I have to do the whole claim thing with Asurion?

Damn that sucks man sorry. I don't think the store will replace it. Your kick stand peeling? Heard they replace it for that. Lol. Worth a try.

That happened to one of our TB's. Went to Verizon, they gave us the pamphlet to contact Asurion. Even though we had insurance, had to go through Asurion. We were lucky, we got a brand spanking new phone! This was about a month ago.

Good luck!

Asurion. But it's fast. A day or two.

Has anyone found this to be a good alternative to using Asurion for a cracked screen?

It's definitely cheaper than the deductible you have to pay Asurion, but I'd recommend using the insurance you're already paying for. Replacing that screen is no easy task!

I see that the "assembly" is selling for $99 on Amazon. Even though that's more expensive - does that make it an easier enough of a replacement to avoid Asurion?

At that price, go the Asurion route. You'll get a brand new retail boxed unit (not refurb) and save you the trouble in taking the phone apart and putting it all back together properly. It will come in a day or two after placing the claim. You can tell them the phone was lost so that you can keep it, not sure if they would require you to send the old phone back if you tell them it was damaged.

I replaced a digitizer on an iPhone 3GS and trust me, it was no walk in the park and I am guessing that Thunderbolt will be the same.
