Duplicate contacts when texting, how can I stop this?

Duplicate contacts when texting

I am seeing duplicate contacts on my Samsung Galaxy Core Prime when sending a text message. I have my contacts set to display sim only and these contacts only appear once in my contact list, but anyone who I also have as a whatsapp contact appears twice when I tap on enter recipients to write a text message. Very annoying, is there anyway to stop this happening? Auto sync data is turned on under contact accounts. Any help much appreciated
