Its not working for me either. You are thinking that the SU command is requesting root. And it is but.. its showing up as Unkown and not SU. Is that normal? I have attached a screen shot of what the Superuser app shows and what the error messages are.

I thought this may be because of the way I rooted the phone but it is not. I was rooted with Gingersnap and Gingerbreak. Both methods yield the same results.

1) Yes it shows up as Unknown. Yes that is normal.

2) The method used to root makes no difference ever.

Allow that Superuser prompt, dangit! :p

yah I had to go to back to stock to test it all out, heard it didn't work at first, but it worked for me! I like it :P

It would be nice if we could start including programs like this with a rooting program and one that will unroot and return to stock without custom recovery. A simplified idiot proof rooting and unrooting program. But that would most likely take it out of range of your desired scope here. At this point the only thing I haven't felt comfortable with is unrooting, but I really struggled in the beginning. Only through the great help by others around the forum have I managed. Thanks to everyone!

Unrooting and returning to stock is something that really needs to be a manual process, as there are so many variables involved. And there are some things that literally CANNOT be automated. Trust me, I've tried. Unrooting is fine, but returning to stock is a whole other animal.

If you got there, you can get back :)

Yah, drews right when he says its a whole other animal. i was gonna try to have a unroot option, but in all reality i dont know where to begin. I just use the KP500 thread :p i have it favorited and everything it works perfect.

working on unrooter tool right now and more features to come

Edit: unrooter works

thank you soo much for creating this, it worked flawlessly with my vd firmware lg optimus s. I had already tried other methods and was about to do the adb method manually until someone at sdx-developers forum posted a link to this topic. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I see what you did there!

BTW setup.exe is broken:
The following error occurred attempting to install 'Z:\home\drew\Desktop\mom\E-Z Installer\WindowsApplication1.application':
"File not found "

See the setup log file located at 'C:\users\drew\Temp\VSD254.tmp\install.log' for more information.

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

Hi guys. How is everyone? My phone had been rooted with gingerbreak and I had installed some apps that require rooted phones so I believe its correct and i have the "Root Checker" app and it says everything is correct. My problem is I installed the Xionia Recovery from here and I allowed all the superuser prompts and it when it was done it booted me to recovery but as someone else earlier said, all I'm getting is:
*reboot system now
*apply sdcard:update.zip
*wipe data/factory reset
*wipe cache partition
I'm not too great using the command prompt but I tried what you guys suggested and before I can even type the "adb shell" line it tells me "The system cannot find the path specified" Please help =]

Hey

I dont know if im missing something here or not... I rooted on my own with gingersnap and have the unnofficial CM7 rom running right now

I downloaded the zip and extracted straight to my C: drive. I opened the folder and ran the winsdow application in there and when I tried to unroot it goes through the cmd prompt set up but there is no response on my phone to anything. I have debugging on and everything and I do not have mass/usb storage turned on during the process.

Help possibly?

The installer worked like a dream, and it said it was installed and stuff so I'm not sure what went wrong. You get to adb shell from the command prompt right?

Yes, you do.

@Alvis: I'm pretty sure I know what went wrong with the recovery installation. There is a file that restores the stock recovery if it's not deleted or renamed.
