Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

I think I finally figured it out, thank you guys so much for all of your wisdom
Well maybe not, I got into the adb shell. I tried typing in the stuff on the second page of the thread but its still on the stock recovery screen. Any ideas?

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

Hey

I dont know if im missing something here or not... I rooted on my own with gingersnap and have the unnofficial CM7 rom running right now

I downloaded the zip and extracted straight to my C: drive. I opened the folder and ran the winsdow application in there and when I tried to unroot it goes through the cmd prompt set up but there is no response on my phone to anything. I have debugging on and everything and I do not have mass/usb storage turned on during the process.

Help possibly?
Okay I got it half figured out...

I have been able to flash different recoveries to my phone. but when I go to unroot it gets to the part about removing busybox and says this:

"rm: remove '/system/xbin/busybox'?"

and there is a cursor flashing after the ? but it just sits there and there is no response from any keystroke and my phone has no SU prompts or requests

any ideas?

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

Yes, you do.

@Alvis: I'm pretty sure I know what went wrong with the recovery installation. There is a file that restores the stock recovery if it's not deleted or renamed.

its set to delete that, so it must have been something on his part that went wrong, i have fully tested this on several computers and it all works but i dont know :/

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

Ok so now im getting an error when using this E-Z installer and using the adb shell of "cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
/sdcard/flash_image: invalid length"...... Any ideas?

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

I got it! For some reason when i unzipped the "flash image" it put it into a folder instead of just being the file

well i think its because, 1 youve never had busybox installed, or for some reason its not in that directory...

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

OK, I'm not gonna read this whole thread, and I mean no disresepct, but maybe the OP needs to be edited, because I'm trying to help a friend root his new Optimus (Btw, I was a Dev on the Moment and a power user on the Evo) and no matter what he did, clicking on Root in the GUI did nothing but run through the motions. So, just to look, I check out the Resources Folder, and double click on Gingersnap, and BOOM! Rooted. Then Xania, BOOM! Recovery.....

Either you need to remap your GUI or just tell people, go to the resources folder and click on the .exe for whatever they want ot do.

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

I misspoke on one thing. I started his Recovery flash and walked away, but it turns out, it wouldn't flash recovery. Just get's stuck on step 3 out 7....

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

Not the best solution, but have you tried doing it using terminal emulator and your phone? That's what I did when I rooted/flashed (was at work) and it worked alright. It's a little labor intensive typing everything out, but it might help. Good luck!

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

hmm sorry about all the problems guys tomorrow when i have time ill delve deeper into them, i really dont know what to say other than ill take a look at them because this worked flawlessly for me and a handful of other people who have used it. once again i sincerely apologize for the failure of this thing if you need help hit me up tomorrow later in the day on gtalk : alvisleet@gmail.com im always ready to help people and as for what jessica said about the terminal emulator just search that in the market it is super handy especially if adb wont work cause you dont have drivers just download the wiodget one then type adb connect ip:port super easy :p good luck and ill reply tomorrow

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

I can definitely say from reading this that the program works flawlessly, but the main GUI interface keeps saying file cannot be found and crashing whenever you click anything.

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

I Get an error
Code:
Unhadled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the aplication will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

The sysrem cannot fin the file specified.

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

Everything looked all good got the sprint id removed fine, granted all of the superuser requests when I tried to flash xionia recovery but when reboot into recovery it just stays on lg logo. I waited quite a while to see if anything would happen or if it had something to do with being the first time running it or something but same thing every time. I have to pull the battery and restart it luckily it boots into normal mode just no recovery. I tried it a couple times then I tried installing stock recovery and I keep getting errors that said file not found when trying stock. I put the stock image file on sd card also just to see if that'd make a difference but didn't. Won't boot into recovery at all. I ended up trying romtools but couldn't get a superuser request and couldn't get # on the cmd

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

Well, I've been messing with ADB more and more, and i decided to whip this little thing up. It's as simple as "pressing any key" a few times.

Everything is working 100% fully debugged by me. Personally I returned to stock probably 15 times debugging all these things, all are fullproof and fixed.

NOW WITH A COMPLETELY NEW USER INTERFACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ezinstaller.png

Here's the How-To:
1. Enable USB-Debugging via Settings>Applications>Dev
2. Extract to C:\ (working on a fix), run E-Z Installer
C:\E-Z Installer << THAT MUST BE ITS FULL PATH TO WHERE E-Z INSTALLER.EXE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. WATCH FOR SUPERUSER PROMPTS its literally what makes it works, well, except for when you root.
4. If you are stock, brand new, run the root tool first!
5.Read the notes at the bottom of this post!
6. Enjoy :) more features to come.

Thanks to:
piousminion for the script help.
dbord_n for being a guinea pig.
scrosler rewriting the batch script to fix the su error, seriously without him this wouldn't have worked.
Gaigetech for hosting files

Notes:
Anything that could possibly go wrong is not my fault or scrosler's you are taking your own risk by doing this anything that happens before and after rooting is not my fault.

If you receive this error:
failed on '/system/etc/install-recovery.sh' - No such file or directory
It is completely ok to ignore it, it just means that that file does not exist, which what it does is restore stock recovery.
I have been struggling with getting a recovery on here on and off for the past couple of weeks .. getting just close enough to frustrate me! You are an android GOD! or a Superhero at least! Thank you so much! :-*

Re: E-Z Installer Utility! Will Root, Install Custom Recovery, et

when dowloaded on window 7 to c drive when i open it and go to the recovery and plug my phone in it says unhandled exception has occurred in your application. if you click continue ther app will ignore this error and attempt to continue if you click quit the app will close immediatly. then whe you go to detail it says jit debugging to enable just in time degugging the config file for this app or comp must have the jit bebugging value setin the system windows form sec this app must also be compiled with debugging enabled where or how do I do this please

you have to make sure you have this path ONLY THIS

C:\E-Z Installer
NOT
C:\E-Z_Installer\E-Z Installer

thats what a lot of people do, just extract it and make sure the folder says
E-Z Installer

NOTNOTNOT

E-Z_Installer

the error your getting is because its in the wrong path
