Earbuds w/ Remote, Volume Button Issues (Amazon and Huawei)

Has anyone had issues using the volume down button on a wired headset on the 6P? I have both Huawei and Amazon earbuds, which work, but I sometimes have to press the volume down button a few times before it seems to kick in. I haven't done a lot of troubleshooting here, and somewhat assume it's an Android issue, but I want to make sure it's not the hardware. Thanks!

I installed the Jays Headset Control app, and on easy mode, it seems to have fixed the problem.
