Early upgrade questions

So if my line is a secondary line due for an upgrade August 18th, then I can't upgrade on thursday?

So I bought the Droid on opening day (Nov 5), and thats when i started my contract. I talked to a rep about when my one year early upgrade is and they said any time after the 6th of Nov. does that mean I am eligible for this promotion?

I believe so, as long as your current plan is $49.99 and the phone you currently have is not a smartphone...though I would check the Promo Details out or call and speak to a CSR.

What's the contract end date? Is it 2010 then yes, of not then no. From that date it seems likely since update the 2 year upgrade is at 22 months the end date should be in October.

It's not when the phone is eligible for upgrade it's when the contract ends.

No. Again the promotion is about when your contract ends not the end of your contract.

I seem to remember at the press release event, someone saying that if your NE2 was up anytime this year you could upgrade to the Droid X at launch.

You can upgrade early at 2 year pricing if your contract end date is before Dec 31, and cannot currently have a smartphone. so you cannot upgrade from a Droid to a Droid X

I'm sorry, shoulda said my contract end December 18, 2010. I was just getting a little frazzled by all the info and questions being thrown around. I called up CS for a definite answer, and the (very uninformed) CSR told me that it'd definitely be okay (after searching for the answer for like 10 minutes lol).

Thanks for helping to clear it up though.

I think that a part of the problem is that the promo does not actually start till the 15th so the upgrade info does not show up for them by default, also it is confusing because they used contract end rather than two year (NE2) date.

The first customer service rep told me that I would have to wait until July 26 (the date on my account) for my NE2. Despite being the primary number on a 5-line family account, the rep said that he could NOT move up my JE2 date.

The second customer service rep said that I had been a longtime customer (8 years) and I explained that my BB Storm (I ordered it on launch day but it took a few days to get to me) was dying and I really needed a new phone. That rep took pity on me and said that he would put a note on my account so that I could order it on 7/15 if I called customer service. It doesn't show up in my account when I log in, but I have been assured that any rep that talks to me on 7/15 will see the note and let me get the NE2 credit on launch day.

Does anyone know anything about NE2 only being $50 and not $100?

I was in my local Verizon store today and they looked at my account and said that it's only $50 but did not give me a good explanation?

I believe it is still $100 if you're bill is $80 or more and you signed up before February 15, 2009. That is $80 for the main line if you have a family plan, before the added line and extra features (text messaging, internet, etc.)

Don't remember the cut-off date, but yeah, every few years they been lowering it. I think if your voice plan is below 49.99, the NE2 discount is only $30. Getting to be pretty useless.

Just got my NE2 moved up to today in order to take advantage of the X on launch.

My original date was the 21st and the customer service rep tried telling me that she couldn't move up my NE2 date, only my regular upgrade date which I wouldn't be available for the extra money off. She placed me on hold for a minute and came back and said she was suprised that when she updated the regular date it also updated my NE2 date.

Just checked it online to verify and everything has updated so I guess I will be waiting in line Thursday morning now.

Good to see some of you getting your NE2 moved up.

Its been a few years since they started the different tiers of 100-50 for your discount based on your plan pricing

NE2 is now only $30 it's been lowered over the past few years, spoke to a CSR that confirmed this. Eligible for NE2 in Jan, eligible now for annual upgrade... hello X!

Lucky! I'm not eligible for annual until November :(

But if i don't get the DX, there is a rumored 2GHZ phone this winter??

wtf could possibly require 2Ghz? these phones are really snappy as is...i cant imagine 2 Ghz helping much unless i can install Windows 7 or something and hook my phone up to a tv to use as a desktop

I'm not sure but a phone with a 2 GHZ is pretty scary cool

I had called about 4 times now inquiring about moving my NE2 date which is 7/22/10. Spoke to 3 Reps and 1 supervisor. Basically gotten a maybe from the 3 reps and the supervisor stated no we never do that because its not fair to other customers.

Just keep calling and being a pain (a polite but forceful pain), you'll get it bumped :)
