Easy Root (Windows only)

Does this erase the phone's stored data, programs, and preferences?

Yes it will delete all phone storage.

Once you sign back into Goole it will sync your calendar, contacts, and mail.

You will have to download your apps again and make any changes to the settings you want to.

Just got done rooting, everything worked but step 3, you have to push SU and all the apk's using adb, otherwise, its flawless

How do you go about doing this? I plan on rooting sometime tonight and want all my ducks in a row. How long does it take for the root process to complete itself?

I have a Mac and I love you. There will be something before the days over, that mirrors what I did for Mac users in the Fascinate forums. I haven't wanted to put too much effort into it because I was expecting something like Z Root to show up soon, which would make these procedures irrelevant.

Update: Getting close.

I got step three to work, I had to reboot phone a few times and my pc once and just kept trying that step until it worked.
The entire process took me around two hours.

Rememeber guys when your phone reboots cuz of bootloader turn on and off USB debug so adb reads your phone again it might say device disconnected

any reason to root yet without any customs ROM's out.. that I know of at least

there are 2 different ROMs available as of today. Look in the roms and hacks section

I'm just waiting for Cory's mac method to come along. Basically I just want to de-bloat and use setcpu to control cpu usage to gain battery life.

Sorry for the noob question but where do I find the bootloader option (or what I need to do to choose the bootloader option) as it says here:
"Choose the bootloader option and press POWER. Let the ROM flash. When asked to upgrade, choose yes (Press VOLUME UP). This will take a while and your device may reboot, allow it to happen. You will be presented with a screen saying you device is updating." :(

That's going to be on your phone. Power is the "select" button.

Great, now I got this: "ERROR! Contact someone at chat.andirc.net in channel #thunderbolt. DO NOT REBOOT.Choose the bootloader option and press POWER. Allow the firmware to flash by pressing VOLUME UP. When finished please reboot into Android as you will have S-OFF.

Again, after rebooting turn USB Debugging back on and unplug your phone and plug it in again."

That's ok, man. It somehow "froze" on me so I took out the battery then redid step 2 again. It's just flashing right now. We'll see how the rest goes.

"Reboot 2 or 3 times then open RomManager and install the Thunderbolt recovery by clicking "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"."

After I clicked the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery", I get an error. :(
Where do I find ClockworkMod Recovery at? Thanx

Edit: Nevermind, got it figured out. Hehe
