I am having problems with my yahoo account. The only way I can get new mail, is when I manually hit the refresh button to retrieve my mail. Any suggestions on how to set up the push mail settings, so I can retrieve my yahoo mail as soon as it comes? I have the EVO

I've heard that Hotmail now has the active sync feature. Has anybody tried setting this up on the EVO yet? What has your experience been like? I don't have a corporate email, so I don't use Outlook. But I do have Hotmail, and with active sync it's supposed to push the email to the phone. Will the EVO support this without any third party apps?

HELP "Rooted" EVO !!!!

So I rooted my EVO (PC36IMG.Zip), and loaded FrOyO-EVO-TeSt2-signed ROM onto the recovery mode (this took a couple tries with WIN 7)... Finally it worked and I was running Froyo (kind of, lol), BUT I noticed the "Roaming" triangle up top... SO, afraid of "crazy roaming charges" from sprint, I decided to "re-root" PC36IMG.Zip, and then "un-root" back to regular EVO, WHICH IS WHEN TROUBLE STRUCK... While on the white screen (with colorful writing, and droids along the bottom) during the PC36IMG.zip update, on stage 8, or 9 the first TP says "bypassed" then everything continued as normal... VERY IMPORTANT: I am almost positive when I watched this before, it DID NOT DO THIS!! THIS IS THE ONLY THING I NOTICED THAT SEEMED DIFFERENT... NOW my phone booted up as normal AFTER the PC36IMG.Zip update, BUT it does not recognize my SD card... YES it still works (on my computer), YES I tried others (in the phone), AND YES THE PHONES SD CARD READER STILL WORKS because when i RE-RAN the PC36IMG.Zip again, the phone see's it on the card.... I CAN ALSO NO LONGER Boot into recovery mode as the phone does NOT recognize when the USB cable is plugged into the Computer, and ONLY CHARGES (no more questions about "share internet, charge only, mount disk, ETC, Etc, etc)... SO I KNOW this is a "Fixable" software issure, but dont know how to fix it.... Tried EVERYTHING under the sun, and cant get it back.... I loaded EVERY Rom I have seen, re-named them to "update.zip" (yes the correct one, no zip.zip), re-named them "PC36IMG.zip", I cant download anything TO THE PHONE as it thinks there is NO SD CARD there, I cant boot into recovery to flash because it will not recognize the usb to computer action when I plug it in, IT IS AS IF THE SD CARD IS PERMANENTLY UN-MOUNTED FROM the phone making it so there is NO other option when plugged in but CHARGE.... I have been around since the HTC 6700 Roms, Flashed my Omnia i910, rooted my Moto Droid, I HAVE SEEN A LOT (including BRICKS), BUT NEVER THIS !!!! I need the best of the BEST, ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!!!

here is my problem. I cannot check my gmail, once i receive mail and read it. the mail widget will not allow me to add my main gmail account but i can add other mail accounts and they work fine. I need to be able to check my main gmail account but as of right now i cannot see any mail until i receive a mail, then i can manipulate my main account.

when i try to add my main gmail account i receive the WARNING: Authentication Failed please verify your account information message... WTF how is this failing if I am using this account now.... I just cannot access my emails when i need to view them.

I have Rebooted/Reset the phone several times only to have it continue. Anyone have any suggestions please . thanks.

Copy and Paste from Gmail

Hello to all. How do I copy a body of text, from an email message? For example, I sent my self a word document, via my gmail account, to my phone, I want to copy the text of the email and cut and paste it in my notes app. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to actually copy the text, edit the text, of the email message.

Anyway assistance will be greatly appreciated. Newbie by way of Palm Pre.

What is the difference between using the gmail app or setting up my gmail account in the mail app? One disadvantage I see is having to switch between the two apps to see all my mail accounts. Any compelling reasons to use the gmail app for that account alone?

Been trying to get my EAS to connect all day. Says it won't connect to Exchange server. I'm using the same info I have always used on my Pre with no problems. Any one else able to connect to EAS?

Got mine the day after launch and its been great so far even after the latest update. I did find one problem that occurred before the latest update. A few days ago the power button stopped working to shut the phone down. I have to rely on the screen timeout now to shut it down. It shuts off if I press the power button when the phone is in screen lock but not if its unlocked. Its bugging the hell out of me. Any suggestions? I'm new to Android and HTC EVO.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put it, but I thought this might help others who may be having similar issues. I purchased my HTC Evo phone Wed evening, set up my Microsoft exchange active sync and all looked well to me it synced OTA or so I thought. In the morning, I checked my messages and there was nothing new, strange, as that NEVER happens. I logged on to webmail and sure enough there were a ton of messages that were not downloaded. Since I was new to the phone, but not to smart phones I figured it was a setting, but never really found anything out of place.

I get to work, open my actual Outlook email on my laptop computer, take a call... I look down and there were all my messages. Again, I didn't think much of it. Through out the day as I had time, I did some research and found a few people having same issue, but no solutions other than it's most likely your company's server issue.

Last night, I noticed again, no emails, logged in web mail and there they were. I tried manually syncing, etc, but nothing would happen. Then all of a sudden during one of the manual syncs, one message might drop in, but looking at webmail, there were older ones that had not dropped, so strange. Did more research on the forums and no luck on solutions.

This morning you got it no emails, but webmail had a ton... I tried deleting, re entering the account on the EVO and it would sync, but not all my emails... I didn't understand why. So I have been doing more research again this morning and really no solutions. Then I open up my Outlook email on my laptop and.... you got it all my emails drop into the EVO!!! I close Outlook and the EVO gets no emails, I open Outlook... and they drop in... wtf.

So for those admins, can you think of what setting might be causing this? I don't know if this is a exchange server issue or a setting in my Outlook that may be causing it.

I know this has been asked once or twice in the forums, but I can't seem to find anyone that has answered it...how do I get pictures to automatically download in the Gmail app without having to hit "Show Pictures" all the time. I really don't want to download a third party app, but if that is my only solution I will do it. Thanks for your help!

Moving email

I read where I could move a particular email by tapping it and then tapping "move to". Somehow I am not able to do that. Maybe I am using the wrong sequence. I would sure like to be able to have a folder where I could
D store older email. Thx

Thanks, Corey, I have two questions about your Answers:

1) Are Folders supported?

You said yes. However, when I tried Android 2.1 on the EVO, my subfolders were all "exploded" out. That is, the UI did not offer "expand/collapse" of subfolders. This made my list of folders incredibly long and frustrating to scroll through, not to mention confusing when subfolders had the same name (not a problem if they can collapse into their parent folder, providing context). Does 2.2 fix this problem by providing expand/collapse?

2) Can you move emails into folders?

Again, you answered yes, but I have a UI question. On the EVO with 2.1, I could only do this by opening the actual email and then selecting the move option. There was no quick way to move (multiple) items from my Inbox into a folder, nor did it seem to "guess" appropriate folders like my Blackberry does. Has this been fixed in 2.1? Also, can I one-click delete items from my Inbox that I obviously don't need to read, without opening the email?

Hey guys, here's my mail problem:

Just for reference I'm running Launcher Pro Plus. I have a gmail account. OK fine, set that up using the gmail app. I have my work email account, which actually uses gmail as it's back end. I go to the gmail app, and my personal email is listed there, but it won't let me add my work email as a gmail account. I have to go to the main messaging app and set it up there under "other" email. That's annoying because that program is definitely not as nice looking or easy to use as the gmail app. So now I have the Messages widgit, and I can sync every other messaging app (texts, facebook, work email) but I can't add my personal gmail from the gmail app unless I create a new gmail account in the main messaging app. Fine. I did that, and I linked it to the Messages widgit. Now when I get an email to my personal email I get 2 notifications, one in the gmail app and one in the main messaging app.

So my question is: what am I doing wrong? Why can't I set up my work email (which is also gmail) in the gmail app? Why can't I link my gmail to my Messaging widgit without having to duplicate it in the Messages app?

Bellsouth POP3 email problem solved!

I found the solution in androidforums.com. Here's the link (go to the las post at the bottom): Bellsouth Email Settings? - Android Forums

Basically, this is what I did:
Incoming mail server type: POP3
Incoming (POP): pop.att.yahoo.com
Incoming User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g. yourname@bellsouth.net)
Incoming mail port #: 995, secure connection (SSL) checked

Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.att.yahoo.com, with authentication (same user and password as POP)
Outgoing User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g. yourname@bellsouth.net)
Outgoing mail port # 465, secure connection (SSL) checked

I was connected to wifi at the time I set it up.
