Epic 4G vs T-Mobile G2

If I were you i'd wait until the g2 comes out. The G2 is rumored to have ffc like the epic 4g accoring to a tmonews source, the g2 does indeed have a keyboard, it has stock android which means no htc sense, it has a 800mhz processor but might be bumped up to 1ghz, plus it's HSPA+, so I say instead of switching wait for that.

Remember they are just prototypes, and tmobile's hspa+ is better than 4g.

LOL thats so dumb the keyboard is SMALL I wanna see the slider cause it looks like they waisted a lot of space the keyboard could be spread out more and include a 5 row with a screen size of that. I hate 4 row landscape qwertys phones

I think the only way to truly find out would be to pass on the Epic at launch- and then get the G2- and the epic and try them both for 30 days...

Question is- can you wait that long and are you crazy like that? (I am- but I simply cannot wait...but man do I miss the Tmobile customer service on the phone- best in class IMHO.)

I have a G1 on it's death-bed, hooked up to life support, someone already pulled the plug, and we're just waiting for it to die. Gonna be hard to wait that long unless they give me a September release date.

Sh!t this is difficult. You're damn right about their customer service being stellar. I've never had anything customer service related to complain about since I started with them.

Thanks for the info about Wimax

Also the G2 is said to start pre-order september 9th, and to be released the 29th of that month

If the G2 comes with stock android, that would be a good reason to get it over the Epic. But we will see. T-Mobile's android lineup has been sketchy lately. Hopefully they can right the ship and get on track.

If you want Vanilla android, simply download Launcher Pro. That can be customized to look exactly like it. It also has MUCH more smoother scrolling than vanilla. (I know this cause on my Moment, Launcher Pro scrolling is far superior to Vanilla).

ROFL - it's got a 1 GHz Snapdragon? LOLOL.

That answers my question. Jesus man... this is just a Nexus One with a keyboard. Too bad the Nexus One came out 7 months ago and the 1 GHz Snapdragon is old hat.

Seriously, wtf is wrong with T-Mobile?

Well apparently it's not a 1GHz Snapdragon. Well now I don't know what the hell to do...

T-Mobile G2 - Stock Android, I know T-Mo gets good reception, but only upgrades every 2 years...

Sprint Epic 4G - Cheaper monthly plan, yearly phone upgrades, but Touchwiz, not sure how great the reception is...

Maybe I should use the Epic for the trial period and try and talk retentions in T-mo into letting me try a G2 before release to compare?

had tmobile. been with sprint for a year now, i travel all over l.a county, reception is MUCH better then tmobile, call quality is much better, and almost no dropped calls, even on my pre. easy chice for me...

Thanks a lot man, very good to hear.

Leaning towards the Epic I think

I mean, I've already got the Epic preordered, so I'm just gonna see if it blows me away. I'll have it side-by-side with my G1 for a month, so I'll be able to compare reception.

Epic+ = The keyboard is better on the Epic, the screen is better and bigger, cheaper service
Epic=G2 = Processors very similar, both have fake-4G, both should be good for multimedia
Epic- = TouchWiz instead of Vanilla (but I may not be opposed to flashing ROMs, so I don't really care), probably worse battery life, no thumb-pad

They're so evenly matched. I think it's all going to come down to my 30 days with the Epic. If I love it, the only way T-Mobile could keep me is if they let me use a G2 early (which is so doubtful it's laughable). I'm predicting I'll end up with the Epic. :)

Hearing a lot of negative feedback about the Epic, guys... guess I'll reserve judgement until I get mine tomorrow (or Thurs, please be tomorrow), but it's makin me look seriously at that G2.

Hearing a lot of complaints about battery life, GPS, and overall that it's not as mindblowing as people expected

Obviously the G2 also doesn't have a hardware keyboard :(. Reception for T-Mobile is great around here and HSPA will be here soon (if it's not already). I've heard great things about Sprint reception and Wimax will be here soon. I've heard HSPA should give better battery life, but also that HSPA gets crowded and speeds drop easily. Heard anything?

Any thoughts on the two phones and networks?

Doesn't have a Hardware Keyboard? Are we talking about the same G2? All the pictures I have seen show a keyboard.
