Epic Versus Evo

The Evo def feels quicker to me... but the Epic feels more fun. Hard to explain and its irrelevant because its a preferential thing.

is your evo stock or custom??? because if the stock one seems faster then i will have no issues keeping my rooted evo overclocked to 1.113GHZ fps uncapped BackedSnack ROM and live through the grass is greener syndrome.... i hate looking over my shoulder so much

my 30 days is up sept 6 but since the epic releases tommorow, ill take a look at it and see how it feels,... my head is about to explode because i cant decide which route to go

Could it be a ui visual aspect that makes it feel faster (e.g. animations or effects)?

if this is true, it should have favored the epic since the animations should give the illusion that everything is flowing smoothly and effortlessly... since the evo barely has animations, its impressive that it still feels faster

I'm running fresh on my evo with it overclocked a bit. The only thing that kinda turns me off is the physical keyboard. I really like swype these days. Plus the smaller screen I guess.

Is there any review out there done by a party impartial to either phones that gives every single conceivable pro and con to compare the EVO to the EPIC?

Epic is available on Sprint.com if you want you should probably hurry. My end decision was HTC vs. Samsung, and why is Samsung trying to make smartphones.... So I got on a waiting list for the white evo.

I still love my Evo. My wife and I switched to Sprint just before Evo came out and she got the Samsung Moment. I wasn't aware that this Epic was coming out and now I wished she could get this one. The Evo is too much for her, but the Moment, is just a little plain compared to the Epic.

In time she will get one.

It's just a preference

Do you prefer:

- touchscreen over keypad

- HTC Sense over Galaxy OS

For me, the screen of the EVO is amazing! I could probably live with any android device though.

Evo vs. Epic

I'm really intrigued by the Epic but i fell in love with my evo... i think i might buy it for a family member at the discounted price and do a side by side comparison then

I type faster with swype on my huge 4.3in display on my evo than I ever did with any physical keyboard.

IMO, epic has two things over the evo, better resolution, and a better gaming cpu/gpu.

I don't play games and I'll take my big screen over small one any day.

Really want the Epic but I love my evo and am a big fan of htc sense. Don't know what I should do.

I am in love ... in love for the first time, like I have never been in love before. Beauty, thy name is Epic.

Heh. I do like the way it looks, especially the keyboard! But I'm going to wait at least a few days to see some more "in hands" comments from others. Still reading some folks doubting the GPS lock especially vs the Evo.

But I hear ya. ;)

Have a DINC, but would consider moving to a larger phone. At first it looked a little too big (like to carry phones in my pocket), but the EPIC'S 4.0" screen might be a good compromise. Droid X is too big IMO.

Samsung confirmed the problem is fixed, so are you talking about remote issues then because that is highly likely, especially since we're dealing with the Samsung Galaxy S phones here.

They are both good phones, but everyone else is right. The main question is keyboard: do you need/want a physical one or not?

Other questions to consider are: How much do you like to game? (epic)

How blind and how big of a screen do you need? (evo)

How much are you into rooting and installing ROMs? (less means you will be working with the built-in version of Android, which means you either prefer 2.1 with Touchwiz 3 or 2.2 with Sense, and that is a personal preference).

Really, these questions are so subjective. You may just be better off waiting, trying one out in a store and seeing how much you like one vs the other.

Bingo! And we've got a winner! This is exactly what neutrals should do.

I would have to agree with the others, that the big difference is the keyboard, do you prefer a physical one. I have the EVO and with Swype it is great. All that said, I may get flamed for saying this, if you took either the Epic's or EVO's hardware and put WebOS on it you may just have a close to perfect phone. I have used everything, blackberry, iOS, Android, and by far the best mobile experience, for me, had been with WebOS.
