Essential Order and Shipping Thread

Even after they said they are shipping today I had very low hopes of anything happening so not surprising.

I think there is a strong disconnect between support, and whoever is doing the logistics/distribution. I don't know why it's so hard to give proper date. Basically under promise and over deliver, if you think you are not close to shipping then don't send emails to customers and take their money, and then try to sort out issues. Fix the issues first, get ready and then start notifying customers saying they are ready to take orders and give conservative shipping estimate and ship early to make the customer happy.

Yeah, I wonder how everybody would be reacting right now if from the beginning they told everyone it would be shipping in 30 days, and then start surprising everyone by shipping after weeks.

10:39PM Pacific time...hilarious that on Facebook and Twitter they say "preorders will ship today, watch out for a shipping email." I've been watching. I've seen nothing. Dang. I had high hopes for this and to be honest, the delay in shipping doesn't really bother me all that much. But, it does paint a fairly negative picture of this company. They burst on the scene acting as the no "bull-***" Android player and all I've seen from them are BS. Lost all hope that once I get the phone, it will get a quick upgrade to Android 8.0.

Even I , who has been skeptical from several days ago, find this incessant lying, shocking.

I was rooting for them the whole time. Giving the benefit of the doubt but after saying we would see shipping info yesterday it really is disappointing.

I emailed CNET, The Verge and Neowin to inform them that no one has yet received shipping notices. My guess is that Essential, and this is a guess, is having real issues with the software on their phone and will not release a phone until it is fixed, perhaps the camera issue.

I try not be upset about something as trivial as a new phone and give people the benefit of the doubt but they burned tons of trust yesterday. At this point returning it and waiting for the Pixel 2 is pretty tempting.

My guess is they have a serious disconnect in communication internally.

I do not think so. I believe that customer service and all those people that are making comments about shipping have been told by Essential executives exactly what to say. I can absolutely promise you that Andy Rubin knows exactly what is going on and is directing this misrepresentation for purposes that only the executives and Board of Directors are privy to.

After all the BS and delays I asked to have my order canceled and a refund 4 days ago. I have been getting the run around from customer support. The CS rep Poonam says it is too late and the order is shipping soon( we have all heard that for a while now). But Emily says my cancellation is in progress and will be processed soon. Emily even contradicts what Poonam says in the very same email thread.

If I don't get the refund by Monday I am going to file a BBB complaint and go that route.
I think this company is dead on the vine....they have ruined whatever interest having Andy Rubin's name attached to them ever had.

Except the employees and COO all were saying the phone would be shipping yesterday during the First Look event. Now we are into the next day with no evidence that they actually shipped anything.

Just as I predicted...No email no tracking. AT&T will have a stealth Blackberry Keyone available on Sep 1st for $500.00. I have ZERO faith is Essential. They took my money and left me hanging. Everything they say is a bald face lie.

Now im thinking about the bigger picture. The snap on modules they promised, the timely updates . All that is now in question. They have broken all trust one lie after another.
