I talked to Advanced Tech Support with AT&T. We are certain that there's an incompatibility issue with the IMEI number.*

IMEI Number of the Essential PH1 is associated with GSM Technology. Not LTE Technology.*

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing a question. Are you with AT&T and they won't accept the Essential? Maybe you were shipped the wrong carrier phone?

Thread moved for better visibility.

I'm not with AT&T. I was simply stating a fact of not only Verizon not being compatible. But AT&T is also not compatible

Sounds like AT&T Advanced Tech Support isn't very advanced or very technical. No modern smart phone is GSM only. They simply don't have the PH-1 in their database. That's a different issue entirely.

Screenshot below just for fun.

I wasn't able to see your screenshot...? I'm simply relaying the information given to me.
My Nexus 6p IMEI # is good to go. When they looked up my Essential PH1 IMEI#, NO GO...
Please give more information for your stance...

I edited my post above with the screenshot embedded. That's straight from my PH-1.
I went through that section with Tech support. But the at&T support was still saying if we used the PH-1 IMEI# that I would be on 2g. And because at&t does not use 2g any longer I'd be outta luck

Ahh, they need to use the IMEI from a phone that they currently support, such as an S8, Pixel or iPhone. I don't know what they normally do on the backend but that's how AT&T users get new devices working. You'll have to search online or ask here on AC in the AT&T discussion board for details. I don't use AT&T and can't help beyond what I've posted here.

I appreciate your help. I'm currently sticking with my IMEI# from my Nexus 6p. But I'm hoping to be able to use my PH1 IMEI (not even sure it actually makes a difference) but somehow, for some reason, it bothers me...

Sorry. I misread your post. I am an at&t customer. I read it as me being an employee with AT&T... Lol...

To you as an end-user it won't matter. The IMEI on your handset remains the same even if their system has you provisioned on a different IMEI. It's an archaic practice on AT&T's part.

i have no idea what you are talking about. There are no incompatible issues. Why do you care what IMEI number ATT sees for an unlocked phone?

Just put your sim into the essential at start up, it will take care of the rest, not need to talk to at&t.

Google claimed I could not send v-cards because of at&t. I'm sorry you have no clue what I'm talking about. Obviously you are the person who feels the need to post nonsense on topics that you have no clue about. Appreciate your non-productive post...

Maybe if you explained WHY you said the phone was incompatible people wouldn't be confused with you post. Obviously you don't know how to explain yourself better because I've had 0 issues with ATT.
