Everyone happy with Pixel so far?

Coming from Apple, I am loving most aspects of Android and Pixel. Love the Assistant, works very well for sending messages easily, making calls totally hands free and just being clever. Sound quality much better than I thought would be. Do miss not getting notifications of replies etc from Facebook and Instagram and I have to open my Mail ac to see if I have new messages. Plus Google support still have not sorted out my problem if not being able to get my apple mail to be set up on the Pixel. Also not sure if I should have gone for the xl over the standard size. Nowhere where I live in uk has them to look at.

Their work on improving the touch response/overall speed of this device is what has me singing it's praises. When you switch phones as much as I do, especially to the new iPhone once a year, you generally notice the performance differences between an iPhone and the Android devices. I was using a 7 Plus before I got the Pixel XL and there's no drop off-----in fact, I'd say the Pixel XL is faster. Extremely impressed with this device.

Too many things about this phone are mediocre, but the deal breaker was that it does not play well with Android Auto (seriously Google!?).

They might fix it, but might not. Bye bye Pixel.

Can you explain further on the Android Auto part? That would really be a bummer for me. The 6P is great with Android Auto.

With all due respect Almeuit - you look a little pale - maybe you should leave early so as not to infect your co-workers with whatever you may, or may not becoming down with - ;)

Be glad you're not on a waiting list of mid to late November like some people are lol. I've had mine ever since the UPS man delivered it Thursday and I love it. It's the really blue one!!

I like your thinking! :D.

You know as well as I do that half the fun is the anticipation, anyways. Ha. Congrats on getting one, though. You're going to love it.

I'm really enjoying it. Came from a S4 and was worried about the jump to the XL but the size is growing on me.

I've come to really like the finger print sensor on the back.

People who think the speaking and head phone output is to quiet clearly have down hearing damage as it's plenty loud.

Missing some of the led notifications ie. When recharging and badge counter. And wish there was a dark theme.

Great, you guys are tempting me away from that HTC 10.....

Pixel > HTC 10. Do eeeet!

Yup.

On the subject of future proof, In the Android world the Pixel is the only phone that is future proof, because nothing else available is even current "proof"

Axon claims the 7 plus is, but I've heard differently. Other than that, no other phone is capable of running Daydream or having full UI hardware acceleration. If a brand new phone isn't capable of running Android today, how is it going to fare next Summer when the new features are announced?

I'll second what Adranalyne said - I went from a Note5 to an iPhone 7 and loved the smooth, consistent performance. I was really nervous waiting for my Pixel because I assumed it just wouldn't keep up. I was wrong. My XL is BLAZING fast and smoother than any Android device I've ever tried by a mile.

It's a pretty good device so far. Battery life is fantastic. I'll probably stick to this for a while instead of going back to my Note 5. It will tide me over until the Note 8 arrives, or Google creates a Pixel XL Pro with stylus. :)

I'm happy overall after the first 3 days, just two small issues so far, both related to Bluetooth.

1. Music streaming from GPM over bluetooth has intermittent "blips" or "stutters". I read online someone suggested turning off "Bluetooth scanning" in Location settings..I've yet to re-test with this option.

2. Issue with Google maps navigation not playing over bluetooth in the car unless I specifically switch the radio to the bluetooth output. So if I have the car on the radio, google maps won't automatically cut out the music to announce the directions, my wife's iPhone does this in the same car. Still looking to troubleshoot this issue in another thread.

Other than that, the phone is great in my opinion. Battery life is better than my old Z3 and I don't turn any of the phone options down to conserve battery like I used to. I have high accuracy location always set and i'm getting better battery than I used to before. The camera is as advertised -- fantastic.

Coming from Apple:

"Do miss not getting notifications of replies etc from Facebook and Instagram and I have to open my Mail ac to see if I have new messages::

These should appear in the notification bar (don't know about instagram). FB also has a Chathead setting that appears as an obnoxious icon w/ a pic of the sender that I keep turned off.

"Google support still have not sorted out my problem if not being able to get my apple mail":

I use Apple Mail exclusively. But it isn't the server. That is shown after the @ in your mail address. Apple Mail requires you to enter your provider no matter who it is. I use gmail, so my phone syncs natively. If you use another provider, you can add it to your accounts and it should work. I am surprised Pixel support can't walk you through it. It's a simple process....

I've not even powered mine on yet (just got it an hour or so ago), mainly because I don't have enough time to get everything set up yet, given my work schedule. But I like the look and feel of the phone. I'm coming from a Nexus 6 (the original, not the 6P), and I kind of like that the Pixel XL is smaller. I don't necessarily mind a bigger phone like the 6, but it's nice to have something a little smaller without being too small.

The big thing I'm debating on is whether I want to eventually root my Pixel and run custom ROMs and whatnot. I've done so with every Android phone I've ever had. The problem is, certain app developers are making it more and more impossible for rooted users to use specific apps. Like, as much hate as it gets, I kind of miss being able to play Pokemon Go. It'd also be nice to be able to use Android Pay, even though very few retailers I've been to do NFC. Stuff like that. But I also really, really like ad blocking... That's probably the primary reason I use rooted/ custom ROMs these days, aside from various customization tweaks that I could live without, if need be. Hm.

I use Apple Mail exclusively. It is a "client", the program that interfaces with your email. Here is an app that should do that on your Android phone. It will interface w/ gmail AND other providers, and shows an "unread messages" count on its icon:

And here are instructions for setting up your accounts within the app:

Got it :P. Time to play...

I don't have it, and I have no negative feeling (well, only the price) looking forward to get it
