LOL I hear ya. I subscribe to this thread and had it set up for instant notification. Can't wait for it to be release.

1. slingbox in my car for music and live tv on the go through my car's tv system(for passangers only!) <<-this is the main reason im so excited about this.
2. slingbox at my gf's house which has crappy basic cable (and to a tv which has no nearby coax connection)
3. remote desktop with a bluetooth keyboard or mouse on my living room tv or my gf's tv.

I do most of these with my laptop currently, but using just my phone make things sooo much easier. I find myself just giving up most of the time because of having to deal with all these cords and finding space to keep my laptop when i change what i want to watch or remote desktop access.

My goal is to have a slew of hdmi/micro usb docks where i can just drop my phone in and enjoy.

I'm optimistic at this point. I know that there are going to be some logistics to work out and that things wont go as smoothly as i have envisioned.

Anyone have any other cool ideas ?

1. Evo on a big screen

2. Evo on a BIG SCREEN.

3. EVO ON A BIG SCREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is all I've been wanting since day one! I gave up real fast on the movie thing, knowing I had to DL a movie then CONVERT IT(which is the biggest hassle/time consuming)to the right size then dragging it to my damn phone. I just want to download, drag to phone, then open up Rockplayer and connect phone to ANY screen/moniter, play games and surf the net.

Thank you sooooo much Orrebmas, you are GOD sent!

Last week Sam was working on something he thought was going to be trivial, but ended up being more of a stumbling block than he thought.

He confirmed yesterday that this has been overcome, and said "Definitely we will go public with a beta once things are stable enough and acceptable feature-wise for mass testing."

He is still working on packaging all of his code into an .apk, and still has some hurdles. But keep hanging in there. Fingers crossed, we should be live with this soon.

Can't wait. Going to make some of the guys at work jealous!!

The newer version is out, but it's a pre-beta. Not public yet. It was sent to the alpha testers.

So far I haven't had a real chance to get into it. Here are some updates on the surface. To get the performance needed for the update, you will have to install a new kernel, and new Wimax and Wifi modules. This is a little beyond a beginner level, and is not the same turnkey solution that the alpha .apk was.

You have to have root, and be comfortable flashing these. However, the trade off is worth it. By changing the kernel, you get:

1. Mirroring with hardware acceleration.
2. Full screen hardware stretching.
3. Landscape/Portrait mode.
4. Double buffering in hardware mode.

Orrebmas left the option for people who don't want to root, or don't know how to make these changes, of keeping the app running in software compatibility mode. This mode is basically what you have seen in all the videos from testers thus far.

Once I get the new kernel installed, I will try to post a video update here. This hasn't been tested, so the developer does need to wait for feedback from the sample group he has so far before he can go public. If this has issues, they need to weed them out before he mass distributes.

Stay tuned for more...

Okay, was an ordeal getting the kernel installed (mostly because I was unable to use fastboot for it and had to figure out how to make a working zip to flash), but I got a working flashable zip the installs the kernel and the 2 driver updates.
bradleyw801 - If you need this, let me know and I'll e-mail it to you. It looks like it's all working fine but I won't be able to test anything until late this evening. 4G and Wifi both activate still anyways :)

Thanks for packaging the kernel and modules into a flashable zip Artlan. I had planned on spending some time this evening figuring out how to make it, since not many had much success with fastboot. If you email it to me I can distribute it to the alpha testers, or you can put a link up in a post here if you'd like, since it will be needed in Beta soon.

What ROM are you using? I am on Ava Z3. I got the kernel installed quickly, and the drivers for Wimax and Wifi after a little work, ADB isn't my strong suit. A zip would have been nice. :)

I put the new drivers on, and I know they mounted, but it doesn't look like they are compatible with my rom. HDMI is working, but no WiFi or 4G.

I get some flickering when the processor is working hard, things like Google maps, or using Hulu through the browser. I did this video, mostly of me playing NHL94 for SNES, (I loved that game, still do), and then watching an .avi file with ArcMedia. YouTube - fullHDMI update over a projector

You will see a little bug when I click on the ArcMedia player, that's a bug with ArcMedia and the phone, not the fullHDMI app. I didn't properly exit the player and so the video was running in the background. When I tried to jump back in, it froze up. There is also no audio, because the projector didn't have audio.

As I get more info I will post it here. Right now here is what is working well:

1. Full screen scaling
2. High enough frame rate for any video watching or games
3. Great response from input on phone to what shows on screen

Needs work

1. Flickering during certain apps
2. Sometimes if the HDMI "handshake" between the monitor and phone times out, I had to reboot to get the HDMI to re-initialize with the monitor.

I will keep updating as I get more accomplished.

I also noticed this, but it only happens on my 19inch Dynex but never on my LG. It happens when I "lock" my phone with HDMI connected, and have to reboot to get it back with or without the app running. But since it doesnt happen on my LG I thought it may be a issue specific to the Dynex and the HDMI chip. I will keep closer attention to it, thanks Brad.
