EVO LTE reviews (latest: GSM Arena 5/20)

Re: EVO LTE reviews

I have been with Sprint for a long time mainly because of my awesome SERO plan. I've had the Mogul, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, and now I currently have the HTC Arrive. I love windows phone 7. It is sooo smooth and fast after the atrocity that was windows mobile 6.5. The only major problem I have with WP7 are the apps. Very limited compared to Android/Iphone. I was seriously consider waiting for windows phone 8 but this evo 4g lte sounds so awesome. I pre-ordered via sprint on the first day. I just hope I made the right choice.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

The Verge editor says it's one of the best phone cameras he's used, and yet that doesn't seem to be enough for him.

yeah, i really think it's a matter of opinion when it comes to camera. from what i read, most ppl like the camera. all i know is that i personally had the galaxy nexus and i hated it and the evo lte will be a big improvement for me.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

kind of a short review. he likes the camera and the battery. the battery still worries me a little.

If anything, what worries me is his benchmarks were way low. I think he just wasn't running the test in optimal conditions. Kinda weird, not really a big deal though.

The battery has to be some sort of software/connectivity issue. It's got the same internals with a bigger battery. The only difference is network. Additionally, it may just a software quirk that will be ironed out with an update. I'll wait for Phil's review or the updated engadget/AnandTech for a real battery opinion. I might have it in my hands by then though

yeah, i don't pay too much attention to beachmark, usually i just skip over them. he also said the phone is running on 4.04 which is wrong, it's on 4.03. really making me lose some confidense in his review. yeah, like the one x, it has some battery issue at first too, htc came out w/ an update for it pretty soon after, hopefully, it's the same case here.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

That was the HTC One X international version.

Only one review thus far had a negative opinion on battery. I'm thinking its a fluke issue. Will wait for further reviews though.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Wow. Didn't even wait 18 hours, hunh?

That's why we love you Phil. I read all the other reviews out of interest and maybe find a nugget or two but I find the AC reviews much more informative and written in plain english.I guess they just want to be first.I imagine its from the pressure of us phone nerds banging on the doors yelling"tell us more"!!! and if you say something we don't like we then accuse you of being a puppy molester or worse, a fanboy. Sometimes when I read all the different reviews,I wonder if its the same phone they are reviewing. It gets ridiculous sometimes.Excuse my inarticulate rant,I don't write for a living like Phil nor have a cool beard like Jerry. But,working for a ATT contractor I will get the fun of showing all the ATT techs my cool Sprint Evo 4 LTE. :D

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Welp, all the reviews are saying it's the best phone on Sprints network. Meh. Every Sprint stan is calling it the One X killer and stuff but no review is saying that.

The Verge says the battery is worse? WTF, lol. Oh Sprint, still searching for a service that's not implemented or CDMA is just drain heavy?

Or just a bum unit? Until multiple outlets say battery is a letdown, i'm not seeing why it should be different than the One X. CDMA vs. GSM be damned, that shouldn't make that noticeable of a difference.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Ordered mine up too. If interested, put promo code: skinomi25 for 25% off. Picked a full body/screen skin for $14.95

Just ordered one for my pre-ordered EVO 4G LTE and one for my wife's iPhone 4S. Was wondering what I was going to do to protect this thing. Now, I'm covered and saved 25% on top of it. Thanks!

Re: EVO LTE reviews

just read it. the phone is awesome! only thing is they didn't go too much about battery life in the review. prob why their review came out before everyone else.

Slashgear said it had pretty excellent battery life, while The Verge thought it was mediocre...then again it could be a software issue like the One X had.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

just finished reading it. I hope they are wrong about the battery or there's a bug. otherwise the battery life is horrible.

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Android Central Forums

Maybe LTE wasn't explicitly disabled, and it was searching for that signal constantly... Wild guess..

i read the slashgear review too, pretty short one. don't know how i felt about it. yeah, i am hoping it's only a bug that can be fixed later.

could be, i guess we really won't know how the battery life is untill it's released and we have more real ife figures from real users.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Did you guys read the review from laptopmag? I posted it earlier.

Pros: Solid attractive design with built-in kickstand; Best-in-class HD screen; Sharp and fast camera; Google Wallet support; Unlimited data

But battery life only get 5hours and 36 minutes after moderate/heavy use.

HTC Evo 4G LTE (Sprint) Review | Smartphone Reviews

Did YOU read it? They considered that good. I'm thinking laptop mag might have a different interpretation of moderate to heavy use than some of us.

Battery Life
A 2,000 mAh battery gives the Evo 4G LTE plenty of staying power. After 5 hours and 36 minutes of moderate to heavy usage, the phone still 11 percent juice left. That's pretty good endurance (the average Android phone gets 5:59), but we'll have to see how well the phone stands up once that 4G LTE radio gets put to good use. We'll update this review with more battery testing results shortly.

Verdict
Click to EnlargeThe HTC Evo 4G LTE is our new favorite Android phone on Sprint. It has a beautiful screen, a sharp and fast camera and longer battery life than the Galaxy Nexus, all wrapped in a head-turning design. HTC's Sense 4.0 software also adds appeal to the stock Android experience, making it more user-friendly. However, this handset is not quite Editors' Choice worthy because Sprint has yet to turn on its 4G LTE service. We simply don't know how well the network will perform, nor has Sprint said which markets will get lit up after those initial six cities. If you're on Sprint and like the idea of unlimited data, the new Evo represents a sound (and sexy) future-proof purchase, but a "coming soon" 4G promise rings a bit hollow at this stage of the game.

Honestly...its annoying reading all these reviews with incomplete battery life testing.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Yea i did read it and considered that good but another review mentioned 10 hours of battery life so it totally confused me. I was merely posting the figure based on the review. I'm at a loss of what is considered good or bad battery life anymore lol
