EVO LTE reviews (latest: GSM Arena 5/20)

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Yea i did read it and considered that good but another review mentioned 10 hours of battery life so it totally confused me. I was merely posting the figure based on the review. I'm at a loss of what is considered good or bad battery life anymore lol

The 5 hour 36 min is from constant usage.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Thats what it sounds like.....10 hours sounds like a heavy day of use if they are happy about it.

Basically....lets all wait for anandtech since their battery tests are probably the best out there.

Re: EVO LTE reviews

Added Android Community. They seem happy with the battery life.

Q and A from Good and Evo

[Your questions about the HTC EVO 4G LTE answered: Part 2

Part 2 gets into battery life which he says is decent:

"I will say that after using the phone for one day, I was able to get about 10 hours of use after fully charging the battery before the phone warned me that the battery was getting low. This was with almost constant use, including about 45 minutes of voice calls, half an hour of GPS turn-by-turn navigation, an hour or so of streaming music, internet browsing, app downloading and updating, etc. I also left LTE on, even though I have no 4G LTE here. It was on WiFi about half the time, and 3G the other half. Given that I could barely put the phone down during this time, I'd say 10 hours is decent.

That being said, I've only had the phone for one day, and I don't think that's enough time to truly get a good feel for the battery. Today, I've turned LTE off to see if leaving it on has a great effect on the battery life. I'll let you know what I find out, so stay tuned."

HTC EVO 4G LTE Review - BriefMobile

1 day and 8 hours with about 10% left with above average use is "poor"?!? WTF!!!

It does kinda look like the screen was barely on. I've gotten battery life like that on my rooted/ROMed EVO when I don't use the phone at all.

Yeah, that is a little funky -- but that is the screen shot they included with their description of "poor battery performance".

Oh well, everyone's usage patterns are going to be a little different, so obviously with this your mileage will vary.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (updated 5/14)

With these recent reviews, as well as Engadget's Myriam stating "24-36 hours with moderate usage", my battery fears have been quelled. Now all I need is Phil's word, if at the very least just to hold me over till I get one :)

Gizmodo review:
HTC EVO 4G LTE Lightning Review: The Phone That Would Be King (But Isn't)

You know...i'm beginning to think there are some software bugs here...they had a hard time holding onto a solid connection in NYC (where I can tell you sprint service is just fine).

Could be the reason Verge saw a battery drain as well.

Despite this phone having a larger battery than the One X, battery life was actually slightly worse. We chock this up to the radio problems. It made it through to the end of the day most of the time, though.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (updated 5/14)

Android Police did a fantastic review - I really like the technical details behind the phone itself. He rants for a bit too long about the aesthetics of the device, but overall a good review:

HTC Evo 4G LTE Review: Sometimes The Ugly Ones Try The Hardest

Honestly, that completely ruined the review for me. He seriously spends most of the review complaining about the multitasking screen being changed and other insignificant UI changes. I get that it's annoying, but seriously? And even in the end, despite only saying a couple actual good things about the phone, he says that it's "solid." Well, if I were basing my purchase on his review alone, I wouldn't get the phone. Luckily for me, I read every review I can get my hands on and his it most definitely the worst. He also can't get his facts right. He said the phone was all plastic. When someone corrected him saying it was only the top part that was plastic and the rest was anodized aluminum, he said the body was "coated" in plastic. Wat? I haven't read that anywhere and no other review has mentioned that it was coated in plastic. What does that even mean?

I also don't find the phone ugly at all. Granted, I loved the design of the G1, so who knows? Maybe I just don't care about phones looking just like the iPhone like some other people do. I actually LIKE originality.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

I stopped reading when he wrote:
Meet Frankenphone! The top half of the phone is cheap, glossy plastic with a mirror finish, and the bottom half is soft touch plastic with a matte finish

Bottom line: If you don't even know enough about the phone you are reviewing to properly describe it to reader that may not know...why should I listen to your opinion?

He's even arguing with me, saying he's got the phone right in front of him. I replied with the video that shows the process and one of the guys SPECIFICALLY states that they didn't want to coat it in paint or anything and that's why they went the anodized route.
