I know, right? And now I got this in reply from him:

"It's right in that video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

"One of the interesting things we wanted to achieve was the soft touch finish as opposed to a harder, rougher cold metal feel"

Whatever it is feels like soft touch plastic and scratches off."

Whatever it is...it scratches off? Apparently he thinks plastic is easily scratched off by a fingernail... *headdesk*

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

Its a shame because he has an attention to detail that i think most people don't have....its just marred by insulting something as plastic, when its not.

And he says cheap feeling plastic...but then goes to say hardware is well constructed.

Its like he has such a beef with sense and the design of the phone he kinda got schizo on his review.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

I also think he's trying to be unnecessarily edgy and snarky.

EDIT Oh geez...and he ends it with:

Sense is still not as good as stock Android, but it's not a huge problem. I was surprised by how well I could put up with it.

Half of his review is literally finding things he hates about Sense....then he says its not a huge problem haha.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

I'd have to agree. I mean, I get it that skins are unnecessary these days, but HTC obviously did a LOT to roll back Sense in the OS. Okay, sure they modified the multitasking screen needlessly, but is that enough to get so upset over? I agree, he obviously has quite a focus on UI design and things. I'm not sure there are a ton of people who would be as upset by those things as him. Well, except for the other people who commented on that "review".

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

For the Android Police Review, I love his attention to detail and the way he approaches aspects of the phone when comparing them. Simply put, however, he whines like a little brat for a large portion of the review, which made it difficult to read. His faults weren't really huge "faults", just whining about sense and not liking the aesthetics.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

However this is my favorite part and something that puts my mind at ease a little but
The best battery life this side of the RAZR Maxx.

Plus I do think the phone isn't as nice looking as he One X. I wish the back was all the same finish, but that is another perk of having a case.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

He gets some big things wrong in that android police review. And he's not consistent at all. Hard to admire his attention to detail when he doesn't get the material of the chassis or the fact that it IS a chassis correct. It feels like he was trying to give it a bad review so he could tout the Galaxy Nexus. Even if I'm wrong about that, it's not the best review. It is long though, so I guess he gets points for that.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

I really don't get it. Can anyone please explain to me what is to appalling about the EVO LTE's design? I seriously don't get it, but tons of people in the comments of these reviews keep saying it's an ugly design. I get that the top cover and the rest of the body don't match, but that was a necessary design choice, since the top part help the antenna send out it's signals. I mean, we all saw what happened with the Nexus One's signal problems and the first metal iPhone with the while Antennagate fiasco. I guess people just can't be pleased sometimes. I personally love the look of it. I know I've already kind of mentioned this, but it bears repeating. Not everyone hates the look of the phone.

How does the iPad handle this same issue? Should we call that a Franken tablet?

+1 Like me, most of them will put a case on it anyways, so why waste the energy complaining about it. Doesn't make sense to me either. I have no problems with how it looks.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Android Police 5/14)

Cant even comment on that review.

A good review is one that is not bias for or against the device. Talk about the have's and have not's, the do's and do not's. Compare to other devices if you'd like.

Dont go on a rant about your personal pref's and bag on it for not having your specific likes.

The review I'm really waiting for is from the ones that get the EVOLTE a day or two early.
An average Joe and Jane review.

I agree. We the people on the forums are the ones that not only review a phone but also help people with the many many questions that come up in the months to come :)

Come on Friday

+1 All of his "good" items were facts the "bad" were opinions. The back has been discussed at an extensive length on this forum, but calling it Frankenphone.

Maybe users don't want a phone that is glass on front and rubberized on the back like every other phone.

HTC did an amazing job making this phone different and out of the norm. Just like they did with the OG EVO and I like it.

I hate reviews that try to sell me other phones on AT&T and Verizon
I'm on Sprint for a reason

AT&T sucks in my area there's no 4g anywhere near me
and Verizon is too expensive (they bend me over for 2 years never again)

and crying about the glosses black is silly "Oh there's frintprints on the back of my phone"...
yet the the ones all over the front screen I'm fine with
No way their going to make accessories and cases for it

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Droid Life 5/14)

These 'negative' reviews take me back to the times before the EVO 4G was released. That phone, along with this one, was an industry trendsetter in terms of design while posting the best specs on the market.

Like in the past, these reviewers are struggling seeing ahead of the times. Those pics of the phone in that droidlife review are gorgeous.

That's the thing, that stupid AP one is the first truly negative review I've seen. Sure, everyone's mentioned the lack of LTE (which should NOT be counted as a con, IMO) and the plastic cover on top. But, most everything else has been a pro.

Re: EVO LTE reviews (latest: Droid Life 5/14)

I just can't take looking at these reviews any longer. I have several glowing issues with all of them:

  1. Most reviews don't even know what they are reviewing. They don't even know that most of the EVO is aluminum. Additionally, they wus out on looks. Come on. It's not that bad. What about the fact that Sprint's version has a microSD slot. That too me trumps anything in relation to looks. Too much emphasis on the look and not enough on what it brings to the table.
  2. Virtually every review trashes the phone for Sprint's lack of LTE. True, Sprint does not have LTE at the moment. If that really mattered to me, I would have left along time ago. If a person reviews something, you would think they would be well versed in that area. All I keep hearing is LTE is nowhere and KC could be getting it soon. I can read a headline and come to that conclusion. How about digging deeper. What is the LTE rollout for Sprint? They have no clue. I live in Nashville and can tell you Sprint began testing LTE in late February. I expect it to go live in the not too distant future. If they knew anything they would know that from a infrastructure point of view, going from Wimax to LTE doesn't require a complete overhaul. But of course they wouldn't know any of these things because that plastic cover Sprint uses to mount the antennas is ugly.
  3. Finally, yes we are on Sprint and we could leave to ATT for the LTE and get a One X. However, we value our phones for making calls. And on Sprint's network, calls actually go through and don't drop.

In summary "so called expert" reviewers, put that in your pipe and smoke it!
