Keep getting "Installation Failed"

I did everything right, but when I am in recovery mode, the phone doesn't find the "update.zip" so I am getting an 'Installation failed". Where exactly does the update.zip file need to go?

I'm also having problems in using astro manager to rename it but I'm Having problems moving it to my sd card.

Downloaded the update, renamed it and copied it to my SD card. Went through the steps to install and got an error message

This is what it keeps saying. Any thoughts?

i'm pretty sure the manual update with hw 0003 was a no-go for every person that tried it here, best to just wait for the official ota update.. (i'm in the same boat, i feel your pain)

Can someone that has done the update please go to a streaming station using shoutcast and see if your stream sounds ok, or does it have pops and distortion? My problem started after the update, and I want to know if it is just me, or a problem with the update. Thanks.

You just do a long tap in the typing area and a box will pop up asking you what input method you want to use. Change it to swype there.

ooo lol.. i haven't received the update yet but i was using the swype beta up until today (deleted so there's no conflict during the new ota update).. but to enable swype i had to:

from homescreen, click menu
settings
language & keyboard
and i think it was there that there was a checkbox next to "swype". check that, then when inside a text field long press and select input method, swype.

as far as i remember that should do the trick, good luck

Has anyone tried to connect to 4G to see if the update has cleared up the issue with lag when 4G is enabled?

The OTA is not available for me yet (HW v0003) so I can't say from experience, but there's a post by a Sprint Admin on their community forum (reply #4) that says it is not.

This maintenance release was in the works before the 4G lag was reported.

The rooted OTA is out and will not break your root. Also if you use unrevoked it will change hboot to keep root forever.

If I use the rooted version of this update will that erase all of my settings? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I also have HW 0003 and there is no OTA update. When I downloaded/copied/tried the 58MB zip, I also got the verification error and it wouldn't install it. I am guessing it is not the right firmware for version 0003.

Guess I have to just wait

Question:

My phone never received the 3.29 update a couple of months ago. It wouldn't play nicely with the manually update of 3.29 either.

Did anyone else have this problem? And does anyone know if it's a problem to go from 3.26 to 3.70?


Hardware version 0002. I haven't received the notice for the OTA, by looking through the forum it doesn't seem like anyone with 0002 has either.

Do NOT do any OTA with a rooted phone.

I wasn't referring to the availablity of the OTA. I was answering NDchem2014's post that I quoted in my reply about whether this update fixed the 4G lag issue, which the Sprint Community article I referenced says it does not.
