EVO voice search not working?

the biggest problem i'm having is it won't do the quick alarm set. It tells me that I need an updated version of Google Clock then takes me to a website but there is nothing to download there.
In the Google help it says the alarm function is broken and there is no clock download that will fix it yet.but one is forthcoming.

Every time i try to install the new Google Voice Search, it downloads and then when it tries to install it fails, i get "installation unsuccessful" Anyone else experiencing this? I'm running CM6 RC2 if that helps.

This apparently only works if you have your contacts synced to google. Problem with that is for those of us who use photos for our contacts, once google syncs the contacts it downgrades the quality of the pictures you have assigned to your contacts. Until google fixes this, syncing contacts to google is pretty useless.

So, for those that got it working, are you seeing this happen too:

I hold the search button, say "Call Jim Smith". It calls Jim smith just fine... We talk... I hang up the phone and then a screen pops up saying "Did you Mean..." with several variations of "call jim smith" - AFTER i've already completed the phone call.... Happens every time I use the "call" command and it's annoying because you can't just hang up a call and get back to the home screen, you have to hit the back button to clear the pop-up.

I now get two different voice searches. If I do the hourglass longpress I get the new search options. However, if I use my bluetooth and do the longpress, it switches to the phone microphone. If I do the long press on my bluetooth device, the old search pops up.

I'd like to use the new google voice search but as of now, it's useless to me when I'm using the bluetooth. Naturally, that's when I want it the most since I'm driving.

same thing here :(

It works fine for me. I'm guessing your problem is that there is no one in the "to" field. Try pausing after you say the name of the person you're sending it to, then say the message. Works for me.

"Send text to john doe" (pause) "Hey man, what's up? "

I had voice search working fine for months but now all of a sudden it will not recognize anybody in my contacts. I have all my contacts synced with gmail and everything. I found another user this is effecting as well. Is everyones voice dialing working? I really need this to work!

My voice dial has always worked flawlessly. After installing the new Voice Search by Google, it is far improved. No problems here. Are you running the stock voice app or the updated Voice Search from Google? Have you tried rebooting your phone or a factory restore? While doing a factory restore is quite a radical action to take, if voice command is your number 1 need and it's not working, then you gotta do what you gotta do.

I can't get it to work either.. it is faster to look things up by hand than to use the voice feature. Doesn't seem that the google people are too helpful either..

Update: I figured out what I was doing wrong.. Go to settings and Accounts and Sync. Make sure that it is setup to sync with contacts.. After you do that it works pretty well.. The shortcut to launch the voice software is the hold down the search key on the front of the phone. On an EVO it is the one on the far right.

Hey wjriv - now that you have it working, do you experience this issue on your EVO?

I hold the search button, say "Call Jim Smith". It calls Jim smith just fine... We talk... Yeah that happens to me but if you are on a call... and press home it takes you to your home page without the message popping up..
If you are on a call and end it the message pop up but you can hit cancel or just home to make it go away. I think there is a setting in the search that you can turn off the suggestions feature. but it doesn't really bother me..
