Extended Battery now available

I've had mine for a couple days. The original battery door fits fine with mine. No noticeable problem with the LCD. The battery works fine with it and doesn't overheat (something I WAS a bit worried about). From the outside, no one can tell that there is an extended battery. The extended cover is OK, but I think they could have done a better job by easing from the door edge to max hump height. But then again it is <1mm, so no big deal either way. I have to admit that I didn't try my BodyGlove case with the extended door.

Now I keep my original battery as a backup and have at least a full day of steady use out of the extended battery. Well worth the <$40 I paid, including tax and (free) FedEx shipping through my local VZW store.

do they have these at the VZW stores? I was thinking about picking one up but dont want to wait until mon or tue to get it if I order it.

I wasn't able to find them actually at the stores. I wasn't able to order them from the VZW online store (out of stock). I tried to order one from the store and even they couldn't for awhile. However, I think they can order them at the stores now. VZW will send it directly to your home (signature required). If you have been with VZW for awhile, I would ask for the "long time customer" discount plan which will save you 25% and make the battery about $35-40 delivered.

Oh, and this weekend I noticed that I started having "ghosting" on the LCD from the pressure of the extended battery with the standard battery door. So I had to put the extended door on. The phone still fits into my Body Glove case with the extended battery door in place, so I'm happy!

Just got mine from FedEx, got it at 50% and it is on the desktop charger now. Do these need any special conditioning?

Heres my report, the first few days, a slight noticeable difference, but it got better every day. Yestaerday, I get up at 430, and stream pandora while at the gym, use gymtechnik to log workout, and use chrono stop watch for about a solid 45 min, on the way to work, I put it on the dock so, it got a little charge, but not much since I was on and screen was on. Drive was about 20 min. Work day starts at 7am. Never put it on the charger again. BY the time I left the office at 600pm, it still had 60% and 50% by the time I was going to bed. I am constantly on it, whether its checking emails, checking for market updates, phones calls, text or talk, or just browsing. So its worth it if you are a heavy user.

5am to 11pm heavy use and never got below 50%
Fits the carbon clip case (a little tight but works loose after awhile)
Fits the car dock (without the case of course)

I tried it with the original battery door and started to notice some small screen ghost, so went back to door that came with the battery and all went away. Just too tight of a fit I guess. Anyway, the extra width doesn't seem to have much of an affect on the case or the dock, so I'm extremely happy with performance, look and fit.

If you're on the fence, get off, it's worth it.

The extended battery is well worth the price, it would have been nice if the discount coupon still worked. After being unplugged today for 10 1/2 hrs, I am still at 80%. Been doing email, playing a game on and off and had wifi on all day. Work days I loose like 30-40% (the regular battery I would walk out of work around 20-30% left), but the cell signal in my office is next to non-existant so that hurts a bit (yeah I could just turn on airplane mode but texts and data comes through ... voice doesnt though that well).

I got mine at verizon. Original battery cover fits fine. Battery is a huge improvement. I can make it through the whole day no problem.

verizon extended battery

The verizon extended battery for the droid x is 1930 mAh. Does any one know anything about it? Is it just as good or better than the seidio 1750?
Thanks in advance.

I just bought one Friday night and am just now charging my phone which is usually charged daily. It is very good but finding a case for it is hard with the extended battery.

I just got mine on Friday and now charging today after first full charge so it's worth it. I will say the original cover does not fit fine so be careful, people are forcing it on.

thanks for the response. crystal gel skins are good because they are tough and they give. It should fit even with the extended battery. get them off ebay, real cheap.

The problem I found with using the original cover is that it does add pressure inside the phone causing ghosting issues with the screen. I started using the extended cover because I was worried about the potential long-term effects on the screen.

The Body Glove case will work with the extended cover, but it is a bit snug. It does hold the phone securely and will stay closed though snapping it closed takes a bit more care.

I'm looking forward to the rumored Seidio 2800(+?)mah battery. Definitely will not fit with current cases unless some "modifications" are made. The obvious downside is charging time. "Potato", "Potahto", which way to go? :)

Online thru Verizon, or another retailer? Because I went to a local Verizon yesterday, and they said they don't have any instock, but if I order on thru them, I will have it in 2 days. I hope they weren't lyeing just to get a sale.

I just stopped at a Verizon, and they had an extended battery in stock. With my corporate discount and tax it came to $40. I love it. I can barely tell its larger. I can't wait to see how long it'll last. I will drain it completely tonight then give it a full charge tomorrow, and see how it lasts.

Well today is my first full day with my extended battery. For those who are on the fence with purchasing this battery I highly recommend giving it a try. I am a medical student and have to use my phone alot for looking at school notes as well as drugs in the hospital. Typically by the time I get home (7am to 6pm) my phone is around 40 percent battery left. Today I got out around 430 and then went to the gym and used my xm radio app to steam music for an hour and im still at 60 percent. So I am very pleased with th life of this battery as it more than gets me through the day with heavy use. J hope my experience helps those who are on the fence with purhasing this extended battery.
