New battery soon for Evo

Seidio says it has a new 3500mah battery coming soon. Only 3-4mm thicker. That should end the battery draw issue. I'm used to a slightly thicker battery with the long life batteries on both my Palm Treo 755P and my Palm Pre. If you carry them in a holster, it really isn't a problem at all, I've found.

A picture of what the back will look like would be nice. I wonder what "coming soon" means? A month? A week?

All I know is that I probably won't buy a protective case for my Evo and just be very careful not to scratch the camera lens. I may go so far as to always carry some folded up tissue paper with me so I can park my phone on flat hard surfaces! Also, I am going to be careful with my selection of a leather side case and make sure that there is enough room for expansion so that the fatter Evo will fit in the same case.

I have a 2600 Seidio in my Pre, and I can pretty much hammer on the thing all day long and still have between 20 to 40% of battery life left by 2 or 3 am in the morning.

I'm thinking that the thicker battery and cover will add some protection to the fragile camera location on the stock Evo. The case should position the camera up and awey from harm when the Evo is placed face down, I'd think. When the Seidio extended battery came out for the Pre, it had some problems with the flash glaring back into the camera and causing a distorted picture. To their credit, the realized their mistake, and sent everyone a redesigned battery cover that eliminated that problem. I also had problems with battery life on the first extended battery I got from them, and they replaced it 7 months later with no problems. I'd recommend Seidio's customer service.

they make it sound like 3-4mm is not a big increase. Evo naked is 12.7mm. This will add ~30% more thickness to your EVO which to me sounds pretty significant.

I plan on getting this battery when/if they have an innocase belt clip combo deal. By that time the newnest will have worn off an I'll probably need the extra battery life.

Eh, might be interesting. I wanna see pics of how it'll look first though

I definitely am getting a little interested in the battery life. some blogs make it like the battery life pours out of the phone

I got two backups already one TP2 oem 1500mah and one aftermarket knock-off 1500mah ..... I'm a heavy user and work 12 hours a day away from a charger in sometimes poor coverage..we'll see how I fair..

I don't mind spending money for a TRUE 1750mAh battery like the Seidio, but can it be guaranteed it's really 1750mAh? We need someone who ordered this battery to test it out in real world..

I'll definetly be ordering one as soon as it becomes available. I had an awesome experience with their 2600mAh battery on my Pre. Seemed like it lasted more then 3x the amount my 1150mAh OEM battery did.

A Better Battery

So obviously this phone is a battery HOG, yesterday I unplugged it at noon (at %100) and by 6pm the phone was DEAD

I'm going to buy an additional battery now, either the SEIDO:

Or the Amzer 1800mAh:

Amzer 1800 mAh Lithium Ion Standard Battery For HTC EVO 4G - Fommy.com

Obviously all the reviews on the AndroidCentral store are fake, so I was wondering if anybody here had any experience with any of these batteries?

Are they really better? or should I just stick with the HTC Battery?

I've gotten pretty good results so far. Yesterday I djayed and enjoyed my nieces communion and used it a whole lot for Pictures and video. Showing everyone who was asking "What the hell is that", the live wallpapers and features. It just died on me this morning. I winded up using it excessively non stop for about 6 hours, No 4G or Wifi on after about 2 hours. Then I took it easy on the phone but it didn't need a charge in 20 hours. However, it was just sitting next t me while I slept, so it got an extra 6-7 hours on non-use.

After 2 days of heavy use my battery has not been as bad as advertised. And I'm also running live wallpapers. I did dim my screen and turn off always on mobile network without any adverse effects. Also I'm in Boston without 4G just yet so that could have alot to do with it.

To answer your question, the Seidio battery does indeed help. I can squeeze a few more hours out of it than the other. Also, getting the battery only charger will help because you can swap batteries in and out pretty quickly.

As for Fommy, I personally don't trust them. I ordered a battery only charger from them and the thing was like a $3 part with the wrong voltage output for our batteries. It has a USB port so you can charge your phone and the spare battery at the same time. I plugged my phone into it a few different times and the whole phone locked up both times. I'm going to cut my loss and get the Seidio one instead.
