I'm in Monroe, Wisconsin with my buddy visiting his place and it jumps from 1x and 3G depending where I'm at. And instead of saying Verizon Wireless it says Extended Network. Do I get any extra charges for calls and texts? I'm sorry if it's a stupid question just never came across this before.

Extended Network means you are using one of Verizon's roaming partners (such as US Cellular), but you will not be charged extra. It is basically "free roaming."

Some features may not work as expected, but most things will work. The most common feature to lose is EVDO (3G) data, but 1x will normally work.

Extended Network used to be more common, until VZW gradually bought out many of their roaming partners and regional carriers (especially the old Alltel).

Yeah US Cellular is the company with coverage up here. Everyone pretty much sucks. The Data was in and out and my buddy had Wifi at his place so I turned off the mobile network just in case. But thanks for the response.
