Extra battery from ebay

I purchased 2 Note 4 batteries with charger from ebay for like $17. It has Samsung logo on the battery but does anybody know if it's legit? It came with a wall charger that has a usb port which is supposed to act like a portable juice pack(I suppose you can charge other devices?). Would it damage the phone if it's not original Samsung battery?

The one on the right is the original battery that came with the phone.

If it's 3.6 Volts (+/- 0.3 Volts), it's fine. The only problems with buying batteries on eBay is that they could be used (and at end of life) and they could be sitting on the shelf for months, which means that they won't last long if you don't condition them before using them. (3 full charges and 3 full discharges - don't charge until the phone tells you to during conditioning.)

Which battery is the one that came with your phone? The two batteries in the top picture don't have "Near Field Communication" printed under the name Samsung. The two batteries shown with the charger on the bottom picture do have "Near Field Communication" written on them.

The supplied Note 4 battery has a NFC antenna built inside it. The phone uses this antenna for NFC communications. (NFC allows you to do things like swap files with other phones and to make purchases by swiping your phone at NFC enabled terminals). NFC may not work without this antenna. If the batteries you got don't have the NFC antenna and you don't plan on using that feature, then it shouldn't matter.

At $8.50 each plus a free charger I'd be suspect as to the quality of the batteries. If they came from China, they may even be counterfeit. But if they give you decent service, then it was money well spent.

If you don't want genuine batteries at genuine battery prices your best bet are Anker batteries.

Thank you everyone for your replies.I just used up both batteries with similar usage. I played Clash of Clans on both until the CPU usage was about 2:15. The original battery lasted about 4:25 minutes of screen time and the battery I got off ebay lasted about 3:45 minutes of screen time. I was little skeptical about the authenticity but oh well, 2 batteries with a charger for $17 is not bad.

Although unlikely, it could explode, damaging the phone and also can cause you serious injury and potentially property damage. It has happened in the past,usually with third-party batteries. Buying on ebay and at that price, chances are it is a fake.

Aside from injury, it can also cause serious property damage by causing a fire.

I got an aftermarket 4770 mAh $30 from ebay, seems to be working well and lasts longer.

+1. I've always had good luck with Anker batteries, purchased from Amazon. For the GN4, it was about $24 for two batteries plus charge, if I recall correctly. Working fine. I keep a spare battery in each of our two cars, so one is always near if I need it, though I haven't (I get good battery life with the GN4).

If you really want a long lasting battery I recommend looking up ZeroLemon. Right now on my Note 4 I have it, and the battery is 10000mah and lasts up to 3 days on a single full charge.
It does cost a pretty penny, and it makes the Note 4 really big. But it's worth the money. This thing is a beast. Comes with a nifty case that protects it really well too.

Oh, nice. Yeah, I saw that one. It's a little big for me now. 10,000 would be nice for long trips. These 4800's are the same size as the factory 3220, it's easy enough to swap batteries. I don't think NFC works with ZeroLemon, if that matters. The factory battery is good enough, really. Don't need bigger battery, but nice to try out and have a backup. I think this 4800 will last 2 days easily without heavy use.

The difference in usage is probably because the original has been in use and the other is new. You actually will get longer life as the battery is broken in.

Honestly I doubt it. That's really cheap and you know what they say if it's too good to be true....Honestly though I had 2 fake batteries from ebay and they were decent. For $17 you cant go wrong.
