Hi guys,

Got the Samsung Galaxy tab S2 9.7 last week and I'm having charging issues. After 24 hours I'm now at 88% charged. Check the image, it says it's gonna take over 16 hours for a full charge. Tried 3 different chargers, did a soft reset and it doesn't matter if it's on or off.

What now? Anyone else had similar issues?

Thanks for the help!

Looks like you might want to contact the manufacturer support. After that long the battery should be fully charged particularly if there are no apps putting a high demand on the power supply.

Welcome to Android Central! In the Settings>Battery menu, does it say Charging (AC) or Charging (USB) when plugged into a wall outlet?

Update: after 36 hours it's now at 89 percent.

I tried to contact the very friendly Samsung US customer support (I'm in the Netherlands), this is how they responded:

Because I paid a lot of money for this product, I just want it to work like it should. Especially after 10 days of receiving it. I'm thinking about returning it which is the easiest and fastest way. What do you think?

When you say you tried 3 different chargers, does that mean 3 different plugs, or just 3 different charging cables? If the plug itself that goes into the wall outlet is faulty, it might only charge as if you were plugged into a computer USB port (which doesn't deliver a lot of current). So if you were only changing cables, then the problem might be the wall plug. But if you tried 3 different wall plugs, then that clearly isn't the issue.

Check the microUSB port--is there any debris in stuck in there?

I tried three different USB cables/wall plugs on different outlets in my house. My HTC One M8/PS4 controllers charge without any issues. I checked the micro USB port and saw nothing out of the ordinary. It's now at 89% charging after 36 hours and says it's going to take another 25 hours for a full charge.

Update: drained the battery. Recharging now. Will let you know if it changes anything.

Sounds like you have a defective S2. It should recharge in 2-4 hours. Return it and exchange for another.

Thanks! It doesn't say any of those two. It says 'cable charging'.
Hm. If you're plugged in to the wall, it should say "Charging (AC)". I assume you're using the Samsung charger that came with the S2? Maybe your Samsung charger is faulty and it's not handling 230 volts correctly? Have you tried using another AC USB charger which outputs 2A?

Edit: oops, I missed that you've already tried different chargers. I would think that there must be something wrong with your S2 then.

Thanks for all replies ;). I charged it again after draining the battery today. I saw it make a jump from 91 to 100 percent in thee minutes during the charge so I don't trust it entirely. Not quite sure about my next move yet.

Try recalibrating the battery software. Charge up to 100% as you've done, then use it normally until it shuts off from low battery. Then charge back up to 100%, and do this cycle 3 times. Then see if the battery level seems more reasonable.

Will do! Thanks!

Last update: I returned it. Problem couldn't be solved unfortunately.

Ah well. Did you exchange it for a new one, or decide to try a different device?

AC charger: the one has output of 5 Volts, 2 Amps and you have to use an USB cable to charge your tablet.
The same USB cable can connect to an USB port on computer for charging, but the USB port from computer can only supply around 0.5 Amp to 0.7 Amp.
I guess what you are asking.

in short after trying to use a power bank .. or draining it to 0% .. it just keeps showing
>"slow charger connected"
and NOW fails to charge at all..

what can we do?

this is such unfortunate ongoing issue ..

in short I will not buy Samsung products any more .. from my experience they are just as prone to failure .. but cost more .. warranty is limited only to the country of purchase ..

i got my Tab S2 - SM-T715Y in Thailand 2 months ago as i am backpacking Asia ..
I know the warranty is per country .. so I can not use it where I am now - in Vietnam .. or back home in USA

I did realized that this was a major factor before buying .. I do have an option of going through my credit cards extended warranty ..

in the future I will buy Acer or Asus or alike that have international warranty ..

yesterday I was on a road trip with my Tab S2

and I was using my 12V car charger
and then a battery bank .. and I think it triggered this problem or fact that I drained my S2 to 0% (very bad for LiOn)

fact is that now it is showing "slow charger connected" .. I am using the original charger and original cable .. and I have 2 more original 2A chargers from Note 3 .. tried all with outlets ..

now it is slowly *discharging* when connected to AC!!

again this is so terrible - again I am losing faith in Samsung :/ (had charging issues with my Note 3 .. 8 months in .. motherboard issue)

I can not find a solution to this problem..

will try to wipe the cache.. but it is a hardware issue .. as it fails to charge properly when turned on or off ..

I am thinking of putting it in a refrigerator? maybe it will do something to the battery?

any advice?

thank you ..

Off phone for 20 mins and then charge it when it's off.

If it's charging at 1% at 2 mins then it's normal

On tablet and use ampere to make sure it's charging at 1200 above mAh
