Facebook/Contact syncing issues

I just got my replacement phone. I backed up all of my contacts on the SIM as mentioned, but now I'm having issues Joining contacts. I can see the Facebook of a person, as well as their Phone contact (separate) but it won't let me Join them. Any easy way to get these together, or add the phone numbers solely to the facebook contact?

I ask because most of my Facebook friends, I actually talk to. But now there are separate contacts for FB/Phone and I can't just edit either to add anything to sync them. ANy help is appreciated!

It's really kind of frustrating, especially since it was fine before I had to switch phones. I know how to "Join contact" but when I do that, the contact i want it to join disappears!

Ditto... Same thing happens for me. And it's very annoying, I've just put up with it until now.

I found somewhat of a solution. Remember/write down the number of the contact that won't let you join, create a NEW contact for this person. Then go back into contacts, find the new one and Join contact with the FB account. delete old, leftover contact. It's a bit of a pain, but so is having 2 contacts listed per person.
