data saver would restrict mobile data not wifi , it looks like either Facebook app problem or somehow app cant access wifi through a setting for some reason

You tried the Normal troubleshooting steps that I would advise , but one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is your sync is greyed out

That's what I don't get either. I've Uninstalled and reinstalled and it's still the same.

Ok so I checked my Facebook sync and its greyed out also but works no issues, now one thing I can think of maybe check Bixby routines and see if you have some kind of restrictions there?

I don't use bixby at all. So unless it got turned on or something I don't use it.

In the drop down notifications panel make sure it's not toggled on by mistake

Could it be that the wifi network you are attached to is configured to block Facebook?
Some corporations do that so that their employees will stay focused.

Also check digital wellbeing see if Facebook on in there.

I reported the issue to Facebook last night. I had a few other friends posting on FB that they were having issues.

All have different devices so there has got to be something wrong with the app. All have issues while connected to WiFi and all are scattered using different networks. Mostly home networks.

I went as far as changing my default DNS settings to see if that had an impact and it did not.

I suggest going in to settings on FB, go in to Help and Support and then Report a Problem.

I don't see where you forgot the network from the phone and the phone from the network. Then clear the cache partition and reboot. Then open fb. If no luck try it in a browser. If it's working then, you have a bad app.

Facebook was updated tonight. So far it seems far better on WiFi. Will give it more time but they may have squashed the bug.

Yeah it's an app bug. It all started when Google's servers crashed and caused YouTube, snapchat and other apps to stop working for hours. After that, the app only works on mobile data and not on wifi. I received an update 2 hours ago and I still have the issue. I hope they really address it, it's annoying as hell

I have this problem at work with Facebook. It's the wifi at the school I teach at, won't work with Facebook.

For me, it was not a work network. I was having problems at home and any other home WiFi network.

I've not had issues since the update the other day so it looks like that corrected the problem for me.

It's not Facebook being blocked... it's a known widespread issue
