factory resetting nexus device to get L update?

i have been reading that some people have been factory resetting their nexus phones and the 5.0 update has been appearing has anyone done that or can anyone do that to see if it works before i do it and lose my apps and info lol

I've factory reset my Nexus 7 2012 twice trying to get the OTA, but no luck...still on 4.4.4. I've also tried the Google services framework trick but it doesn't work anymore either. The OTA is very slow for Lollipop due to all the bugs reported in the process...it will eventually reach everyone, it may just take a while, and I know it's hard to wait.
