1. I am using a Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), initially my problem was my phone restarting by itself repetitively and I wanted to troubleshoot this so I did research looking into it and one of the reasons may be because I needed to update my phone (which I rarely do), so as I'm updating my phone it didn't occur to me that my phone would start restarting during the updating process, now all of a sudden after 3 restarts, a pop up message has appeared displayed through the software update page stating the following #fail to open recovery_cause (No such file or directory) #

#report recovery cause is [unknown] #
Support single-sku
File-Based OTA
Supported API: 3

2. At this point I begin losing my mind, I'm panicking and the phone restarts to only get stuck on the samsung loading screen not progressing whatsoever after hours of waiting.
3. I have tried rebooting via recovery mode, I have tried turning off the phone and "plugging" it & to no avail I'm not sure what to do. Is this the end of my phone? Is this the end of all my important files on my phone, is my phone retrievable without restarting the entire database?

I'm not phone techy and I have no idea what to do, can someone please help? I'm tempted to take these to the take guys.

Hi Galactic, sorry for my lack of intellect but in Odin mode, it just says "downloading", do I wait for an option? As for firmware, importing my device says "malfunctioned" so will this help? Sorry, I'm new to this stuff. I wish I could literally pay you for services, I'm desperate.

OK, being in Odin mode, downloading means your phone is waiting for the firmware for your Pc. You will need to install Odin on your computer and program the correct firmware. Does your de ice have carrier firmware, if so, which one. Also what country are you in?

In the meantime, if your phone has a microSD card installed then remove it. Once removed do a soft reset by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds and let me know what happens?

Hello,

I apologize for writing here, but I have the same problem but with a Samsung Galaxy A7 2018. I tried everything, flashed official rom. Nothing works, not even installing twrp because i believe oem is locked. I am at an impasse.

Please help me.
:(

Literally the same issue as OP. phone was restarting on its own, went to update and now it's stuck on the same screen. Did anyone here find a solution? I'm using a samsung galaxy A5 (2017)

Welcome to AC!
Can you get into recovery mode?

No. so typically the phone gets to the blue "installing update" screen, the update bar hits 25%, then the phone restarts with the galaxy logo. Rinse and repeat. However when I hold down the volume, then the power button to get into recovery it doesnt reach the update screen and just keeps starting on the logo. Not sure if that's of any help. I have a lot of important notes on there that I can't afford to lose, so hoping for at least a temporary solution that lets me just get back to the home screen without losing data. I've heard of using "Odin", although I have 0 clue on where to start with that (if that is my only option?)

Hi,

My grandstander's Samsung S7 Edge was frozen on the Samsung S7 logo screen, and it didn't want normally turn on.

We launched it in Safe Mode, and now it is in a constant loop with an error message "#fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)." Please, see the attachments below.

The phone is not as important to him as the photos accumulated on the phone's internal memory over the years. He didn't back them up into the cloud.

We tried using DroidKit and Fonedog apps to recover the information on the phone, but they didn't work.

We are afraid to use Odin because we are unsure if it removes photos on the memory.

How could we recover grandpa's photos from this phone? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Odin be 50/50 shot but then you be greeted with Grandpa log in information, do you know them ?

Hi mustang7757,

Thanks for your response. I can get to log-in information. Is there any other way that gives a higher than 50/50 chance of recovering the photos?

Also, how Odin can connect to the phone if the phone is restarting all the time?

Thanks.
