I videoed my son's first birthday but when I went to view it it was no where to found. I am 99% sure that I stopped the recording and backed out of the camera app like normal. As you can imagine my wife is not happy at all:(. I also noticed that sometimes when I take pictures and then go to view them they do not always show up in my gallery at first. I have used root explorer to look through my sd card but no luck. I'm running 2.2.1 debloated.

Did you try going into settings unmount the sd card and re mount it? That usually does the trick for me

If you haven't already you might view it from your PC and see if you can track down the video.

Did you look for it in "My files" in the DCIM folder? Usually you should be able to preview it after taking video. Just like camera pics. I've noticed lately I'm not able to do this with videos. So now I just look for them in the "DCIM" folder in "My files". If that doesn't work you might try connecticting to your computer and try to find it that way.

Good Luck ;)

Happened to me. I filmed my friends wedding and the camera app froze. I then restarted the app and the video was gone. Try using an app called QuickPic. It is very fast and much better than the stock photo app. Your camera photos well load almost instantly.

Actually the stock gallery zoom pixelizes like crazy, but the Quickpic does not.

Well folks I am left with just sinking thought. I think that I forgot to push record. That is the only other answer I can think of. Candieman thanks for the app. I ran it but and found a video from that date but TB had overwritten it so I guess I'm sol.

I believe if you hit pause while recording and then back out of the camcorder app, it discards anything that was recorded. We've lost several videos of our son due to that. Really frustrating. If that's the case, I would assume what was recorded would still be on your SD card, just deleted. Maybe some sort of deleted file recovery program could find something. But if it is there, the chances of recovering it decrease drastically the longer you wait as it would almost certainly be overwritten by something new recorded to the SD card.

I've made a point of hitting stop when I'm done recording and trying to forget the pause button even exists.

I had the EXACT same problem with my Droid X. It was the Micro SD card. I took it out, copied all of the contents to my PC, deleted everything off of it, formatted it and copied everything back. I did not gain the lost pictures and video back because they were recorded in corrupted sectors, but I have not had that problem again since.

Did you by chance hit the pause button and then back out of the app instead of the stop button then backing out of the app. I have done that quite a number of times and have lost video's that way.
