fascinate or dinc

I gotta chime in on this one lol. I had a dinc, thunderbolt and now a fascinate. The fascinate is better then the dinc and worse. The cpu / gpu is better on the sf, the screen is better on the sf, the dinc has a better mod community with the tons of roms available, sense straight owns touchwiz.

I found a sense based Rom for the fascinate and after I root and get this clock work mod on my sf ill backup my stuff then flash that Rom. I'm a huge sense fan man but all together the fascinate is better then the dinc!

Hell I think the sf is better then the thunderbolt I had. I don't regret selling the bolt at all man that phone was a heavy battery chugging turd

I'll throw in my two cents since I had the Incredible for a year and just switched to the Fascinate about a month ago. I ran the stock ROM on my Incredible and am running the debinged/debloated ED01 ROM on my Fascinate. So basically both stock for the most part.

With the Incredible I had to use the 2150 extended battery because I'm not into having to plug my phone in during the day, especially not more than once. With the stock battery the Incredible had terrible battery life. With the extended I could make it through the whole day no matter what I did. The battery made the phone a brick though (to me at least). With that said my comparison will be between the Fascinate with stock battery and the Incredible with the extended battery.

Better on the Fascinate:

- 4 inch screen. It is so much nicer having that extra screen real estate. Much easier to type. When I pick up my Incredible now it feels so tiny.
- Super AMOLED looks 100x better than the regular AMOLED my Incredible had. Plus my Incredible had the pink hue to everything and I couldn't stand that.
- I actually get a better signal (dbm wise) with the Fascinate than I did with the Incredible.
- I can make it through the whole day with the stock 1500 battery on the Fascinate. Sometimes I will have to plug it in for maybe 15 min during the day to get enough juice to make it until I go to sleep. With the Incredible and the stock battery that would never happen.
- The fascinate has a very low SAR Rating where the Incredible is very high. It matters to me.
- The phone is really thin and light. Thinner than the Incredible with strock battery and way thinner than it with the extended. I hated carrying around the the bulky Incredible.

Better on the Incredible:

- HTC Sense is light years better than TouchWiz on the Fascinate. Everything on the Incredible is so smooth. And the HTC Widgets are awesome.
- The soft touch battery cover is the best. I wish Samsung had it. the back of my Fascinate was so slippery i literally couldn't hang onto it sometimes. I bought an Invisible shield and put it on the battery door only. I shouldn't have had to do that but I needed some grip on the phone.
- The GPS on the Incredible is far better. When using navigation I would get a lock instantly. With the Fascinate it can take up to a minute to start guiding me through my route.
- The stock HTC web browser is much better (which goes with Sense being better than TouchWiz).
- The Incredible didn't have Bing on it. I had to root the Fascinate and install a custom ROM to get rid of Bing search, voice search, maps, etc. I bought an Android phone I don't want Bing anything. So out of the box the Incredible did everything I needed.
- Rooting and installing custom ROMs is easier on the Incredible. There are far more ROMs too.
- The Incredible will most likely get a Gingerbread OTA before the Fascinate.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I loved the Incredible and would still be using it if it weren't for a few things. To have a thin, light phone with a bigger, better looking screen was worth it to me. I can deal with the Fascinate's shortcomings. Those few things outweigh the experience with the Incredible for me. I love HTC and Sense but I'm not into the huge amounts of radiation the HTC phones are starting to pump out. Samsung has always been one of the best with that.

I am hanging onto my Incredible though in case something just doesn't work for me with the Fascinate.

Sense based ROM? Did you use the Sense theme?

OK heres a question i've been pondering... just where is the antenne located on the fascinate? in what general area .? once there was little wire antenne that you stuck in the older cdma phones and its kinda helpoed in some cases to gain signal mstrength..
i have thought about wrapping my battery with a small strip of aluminum foil (away from the contact points) or where ever or whichever end the antenne is supposed to be located.. seems i get a better sig.. when i lay the phone flat and use the speakerphone to make or recieve my calls..any thoughts.

There is an external antennae port on the back, underneath one of the cover stickers. A while back, someone on here plugged a thin wire into the port and reported an improvement in signal strength. BUT, he also found that after doing this, his internal antennae stopped working totally. Apparently, the phone sensed the presence of an external antennae and switched the internal one off. The problem is that no one knows how to switch it back on, so once it's off, it's off for good. He ended up getting his phone replaced. I was going to play with the same idea, but that scared me away.

I've read the threads regarding the Fascinate vs the dinc in the dinc forums but nothing comes up in the fascinate forum (so obviously it's biased towards the dinc). Wondering about the views of fascinate owners who have experience with both phones.

I currently have a Captivate that has been on Darkys 9.3 ROM for a few months now and I'll HATE losing it. But due to poor AT&T signal coverage, limited data plan, and the opportunity to get either the fascinate or the dinc free, I'm considering jumping to Verizon.
