Let's figure out how many great, helpful, packed full of information threads we can have ragnarokx combine, and then we'll end up with five 1,000 page stickies :D

This is not such a bad idea. Between the three of us we have a phenomenal amount of information, problem solving skills, and resources at our disposal... It was suggested in the 'ROMs' thread that a super thread be contrived and call it "The Tool Shed" - I like the term but it seemed like it would not fit into the naming design of the forum....

I am going to rework the ROMs/Themes and Kernels thread over the next few hours.. then repost it in a new format.. Pics, Instructions, links in stuff..

I appreciate all the help both of you have offered to me policing the issues in the threads I (try to) manage.. Thinking more brains are better than one.

Think about it.

I could look into combining a couple existing stickies to make room for one more if you guys have a "super thread" you would like stickied. Let me know.

I think this could actually work out to be a pretty good idea if we all contribute, put our heads together, and divide up the different topics. Like DXC's How to threads where post #1 covers this topic, post #2 covers this topic, etc. We could create a large super thread as an informational source for all of the major topics, with each topic containing a FAQ section. Make it a sticky and close it, then create discussion threads specific to each topic in the Rooting, ROMs, and Hacks regular forums where people can go to ask questions about each specific topic if they were still confused, didn't understand something, or needed additional help about that topic.

One thing to keep in mind though - if I close the thread, you cannot edit your post(s) in that thread until it is opened again. So we can either leave it open so you are free to edit it, or I can close it and you can request that it be opened when edits are needed.

Thank you. I personally would prefer to have it closed and have to ask you to open it so we could edit. I was just thinking of the jumbled mess that would be created trying to sort through questions covering all the different topics in the super thread and people trying to find their answers in such a monster. That's why I was thinking of having the separate discussion threads and each different topic in the super thread could contain a link to the discussion thread letting everyone know "Any questions, problems, or feedback on this topic can be directed here:" and then the link. Hopefully that would cut down on the number of unnecessary new threads you would need to clean up and give you a little more free time to do what you want/need to do.

Sounds like a plan. Whenever you guys are ready go ahead and start. Don't worry about other people posting in your thread - I'll clean it up when it's ready to be stickied.

Sorry, just more random thoughts running through my head. DXC has done such a great job with his how to threads, so I would definitely want his input on this. Now that Adrynalyne has included cwm-all in both the voodoo and nonvoodoo supercleans, it makes sense to me to combine the ODIN sticky and the clockwork sticky so new rooters can follow along and the instructions could flow by saying "OK,now that you've used my ODIN method, for best results you will need cwm-all, so continue on to the next set of posts to install cwm-all and learn all about clockwork and how to use it. Then his choice on leaving his sticky open or close it and create the two separate discussion threads, one for ODIN, and one for clockwork. Then the rest of us can work on the super thread which would cover all the peripheral topics that get discussed the most. That would leave the stickies section with Adrynalyne's sticky, DroidXcon's ODIN/clockwork sticky, Braydon's Mac sticky, the super thread sticky, and leave the fifth one open for Adrynalyne or another dev, or possibly have the fifth one for the admins/mods.

I'll start PMing the crew to get the ball rolling on this so we aren't cluttering up the threads. I think this concept would definitely benefit from input by DXC, you, Braydon, Gunner, Sheepy, Jaekar, killahamsammich, Kevin, Ytaay, and Chris 3D. Sorry to just throw names out there, but these are people who contribute a ton to the SF forum.

i like where you going with this. we could basicly combine all the threads. the first post could be a table of contents that the maidorator (im really trying to get that to stick) could post. then we each could have an order that we go in. we just count the number of posts we need for each thread we currently have.

It was funny the first time you said it, but now it's bordering on disrespect. I'd appreciate it if you'd address me as mod, moderator or ragnarokx.

This could work out really well. I have started to indexing the Themes, ROMs and kernels thread with built in help links..

Need one person maybe to open the thread and then secure a the first few posts then the rest of us secure our locations. Who ever starts the thread will need to be responsible for forming the index.

Well I am the least knowledgeable of the crew, and it seems all the topics are covered by all of your already existing threads, so not much for me to contribute from that regard. I'm pretty good at organizing and have an annoyingly logical mind so I will get started on the index and figuring out how to format the thread. I'll PM everyone what I put together and we can all decide on the best order.

dang, just a friendly joke dude. this isnt the army. chill. no disrespect intended. either way, its mod from here on out.

maybe you could sugest a layout.

Well I think Danny has a great layout in his stickies, so I would just basically copy that and use his version of a table of contents. I'm thinking it should start with Sheepy's beginning rooter's thread, then the battery thread, then Jaekar's themes and boot animations threads, then the voodoo thread. Sorry for puttin you last Mike. Even though I'm on the voodoo bandwagon for now, I still feel new rooters should gain a better understanding and more experience before making the voodoo jump. That way the super thread would flow from beginner to more advanced. Plus anyone who wanted to go to voodoo right away could use the table of contents and go straight to whatever post # the voodoo thread is.

Understood, thanks :)

Tell me what you guys think of this plan:
1) Combine these threads into one and sticky since ROMs, themes, etc require frequent updates:

2) Make your "super thread" with topics you guys think are most important, and assimilate these two stickies into it so we can stay at the 5 sticky limit, closing it after it is completed:

Oh and I'm moving these posts to a new thread since we've gone pretty off topic here, myself to blame included..

Oh - Here it is.. thought I had a stroke...

I agree with Landshark that the Beginners Root from Sheepdog and the Battery thread from gunnermike should come into it somewhere near the beginning.. & the 2/16/11 (boot animations) thread can be removed (sorry closed) - not using that one any more.

Like thread title: "Fascinate Rooting, ROMs, and Hacks Sticky Committee"...
