Fascinate SD card will not mount on a MAC with DL09/EB01

i had a issue with mine before i rooted mine but after i rooted i was straight idk y everyone else is having such a hard time with it

It seems it is some type of software they loaded on the phone. I'm thinking much like their crap bloatwear. If we knew what it was, couldn't those of us who are rooted delete if we knew what the name of the file is?

you'll have to replace /dev/disk1 with whatever disk your phone is favoring on your mac... but I was able to repeat this twice -- its a bit maddening - I think the gist of it is that you catch the phone somewhere in the middle of a media sync.

Just throwing this out there for folks who know the phone better than i,
and can determine what the heck is going on. It doesnt look to me like its confusing the mac. I'm assuming (yep theres that word) that its the phone lagging at some point.

In the interim I've started using an ubuntu vm to mount the freaking thing - at least it reliable and I can grab content off my mac. (parallels)

aghh - phone turns 2 weeks old today -- and I'm starting to think about burping this whole deal, walking down to the apple store and drinking the kool-aid on an eyefone

Oddly enough I got mad and started plugging and unplugging the damn thing. Finally got the disk image on my desktop. I could see everything. Then the damn thing froze.

I have NOT been able to duplicate. I am rooted.

Funny, this worked for me! I have a new SF, no root,.

I just came upon a way to access my sd card from my mac. I downloaded webkey on my rooted fascinate and found that I can access all of my files including the sd card. Then I can download the files from any computer including my mac.

And it's free. Any thoughts?

Hmmm, I am feeling like I should have waited for the iphone, but I did like that the VZW rep I worked with told me straight out that this was mac compatible just over 24hours of using it and I still have not been able to do two of the mine things I wanted because I can't connect to my Mac. I am still going to stick with this phone, but this is a pain.

It baffles my mind that this issue hasn't been publicly acknowledged yet. Fixing the issue is one thing.. but at least come out and say "Hey, we know we messed this up. We're working on a fix that will be available ASAP" .. I'd love to be able to plug my phone in and freely transfer music and pictures..

A fix for this problem is posted at http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate/58277-fascinate-not-mounting.html and it worked great on my mac running 10.4.11

Just use the finder to locate terminal, and follow the post in the instructions.

My phone is rooted,

under settings/usb/ I have ask on connection checked and USB debugging is unchecked under settings/ applications/development

Here it is again for those of you who don't feel like clicking over:

To mount to a Mac follow these steps:
First open Terminal, then type in "gpt show /dev/disk1" without the quotes. Plug in your phone, go through the steps to get to the point that you get Disk insertion error. Select "Ignore" then unmount the card then remount it. Then in the Terminal hit Enter to run the "gpt show /dev/disk1 command". You may have to run the command more than once. It should recognize your card at that point. Depending on your Mac setup the disk may be something other than /dev/disk1, so you may have to try possibly up to /dev/disk5.

Thanks Gnomad.

I have a Mac. I have been on the phone for hours with Verizon and Samsung tech support...readers digest version...THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT!
After calling Verizon for the umteenth time the tech sent me a SD Card reader. Just plug in your SD card download what you need and put it back in the phone. You can also buy one at Best Buy for around 17.00
They claim the 2.2 froyo update will fix this...if it ever comes!

I installed Adrynalyn's test 5 last night and now my mac recognizes the card every time.

I spent a long time with Samsung on this and was told they were aware of the problem and are working on it. I told the level 3 tech support guy that Samsung has done an excellent job of pissing off their customers and if I had known that their phone would not load on my mac, I would have bought a new Blackberry instead. I explained that they have really used a good business model with their update.

Samsung Fascinate won't mount on Mac

Same problem here. I had no trouble getting the Fascinate to mount on my Mac ... until this last update. Now nothing. I've tried all the tips (turning off the phone, debugging, etc.) and nothing. Any idea how to get around this? All I want to do is transfer photos without having to email each and every one to myself!

Thread title updated to reflect that it will not mount on EB01 either, which likely means it will not work on the official Froyo release.

Kelliswan: unmount your SD card, stick it in a USB reader, and transfer over.

Thanks for the info Cory. Now it makes my decision easier about updating from DL30 leak to EB01. USB mounting works great with DL30 leak and I kind of like the little android guy who is green until you mount the disk. Then he turns orange.

Seriously? I don't know why, but I never tested it out in DL30. How could they do this to us?

Cory,

You know why they did it to us. They want to sell their music and video to us at inflated cost. Just sing along the following words to the Pink Floyd song "Money"

Money, it's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands
And make a stash

Money get back
I'm all right Jack
Keep your hands off my stack

Money, it's a hit
Don't give me that
Do goody good bull****
