fascinate shows up as cd rom

Ok so I connect the device after a reboot, untethered and I uninstall the Samsung CD-ROM device that appeared in Device Manager.

I powered down the phone.

I powered up the phone untethered and it installed the CD-ROM drivers again.

I'm at a loss on why its doing that.

But if you reboot the phone untethered, and then connect it to your computer, what happens? Does it again appear as a CD drive, indicating the tethered boot is a temporary solution?

Oh, I knew that's what you were saying, I was just trying to confirm if GunnerMike's phone was working the same way, or if his was somehow fixed more permanently.

Oh, I knew that's what you were saying, I was just trying to confirm if GunnerMike's phone was working the same way, or if his was somehow fixed more permanently.

I've tried every USB port on 3 computers, USB hubs included.

im not mad at you xcon. im just mad that its doing this. sorry i didnt mean to make you think otherwise. i see can see how you misunderstood, guess thats the problem with text communication.

i have 3 ports over 2 controlers on this laptop and 12 ports over 6 controlers on my desk top. i tried them all.

But I just asked over at XDA to see if anyone knows what's going on. Hopefully someone will be able to figure it out.

I haven't used that package for just that reason (plus, I haven't had a need to go back to DI01), but with the supposedly upcoming update, there might be a lot of people trying to restore and running into the same issue.

i didnt NEED to either, i just had the briliant idea to try rooting with adb, which didnt work btw!!!!!!!!! no one seems to have any ideas about that either.
