feeling better about N4

so I've been a bit upset because of all the new flagship phones coming out.... particularly because the camera on the N4 is the worst camera since the iPhone 3G... i came from the htc one s

anyways I've been contemplating getting the htc one but I want the black model that no one is yet selling

then I remembered something

nothing is going to sting more than Google releasing KLP in probably 2 months and the newest nexus will probably be released before any Samsung or HTC phone gets it

i am just hoping that KLP is a major update that makes sticking with the nexus 4 worthwhile because it's the only advantage it has

Really? Is n4 camera not as good as other premium android phones? I think its pretty good camera.

Absolutely not. It's terrible. It doesn't even have self timer... the auto focus is a mess and the photos are often washed out. Everything else on the device is a dream but the camera is... ugh. i think thats why they were able to sell it for so cheap.

For a cellphone where most people are posting pics to instagram, Facebook or pic messages the n4 camera is fine. If your trying to replace a point and shoot then ya it isn't so good. Ya once u get a different brand of phone and an update comes out u will be wishing u had ur nexus back. I went from a gnex to a galaxy note I was waiting for months for ICS most other phones are good for 1 maybe 2 major updates. Big thing would be getting a newer phone with jelly bean as project butter is a big jump from ICS or gingerbread.

yes that was the point of my original post..... hopefully the update will be worth it.

not replacing a point and shoot but the facts are the facts and the N4 camera does not compare to the HTC One series phones or recent galaxy phones by a long shot.

it doesn't even have self timer for christ sakes! lol

its not so much the actual photo quality I'm talking about I'm more talking about the lens itself and how the focusing works

I find the camera tolerable, it isn't too bad but HTC's are notorious for producing amazing camera's.
I don't have this issue as I don't take photo's so i am not fussed.

I have a rooted & unlocked N4 with Franco kernel changing gamma, the photos don't look washed out anymore compared to stock LG display. I figure it's the problem with the screen rather than the camera.

Really?? I came from an iPhone 5 (which ive taken 1,600pics with) and now I have a N4 (which ive taken 600 pics with) and i cant really tell any difference other then the N4 has photo editing software built in and the fact you can change from -2,-1,0,1,2 is EXTREMELY helpful. Im not really sure what youre basing your opinion on. Ive extensively used the Camera on the iphone 4, 4s, 5, S3 and N4 and i can say that the Camera is up to par. Also this phone is not cheap, its 199 on contract. Unlocked it is cheaper but that doesnt mean its "cheap".

People on here will defend the Nexus phones and say something is great about them when its not. The camera is clearly junk. I love the Nexus phones, let me say that again before the bashing comes at me, I love the Nexus phone and will continue to buy them but I admit when something is way overrated. Google needs to stop messing around and give people a premium camera (phone standards) and stop with the 16GB crap.

To be honest, my GNex takes better pictures than my Nexus 4. I say buy the HTC One and keep your Nexus for what it is, try out the latest software on time.

Have you been through the thread where people have posted their pictures taken with the N4? Some nice pics in there. If your pictures fall well short of some in there then maybe it's your camera.

Don't know about the S4, but it's on par with the S3 and iPhone 5 (I used to own an iphone 5 for a while. I've had the 4, 4s, 5) Like I've said, it is up to par with other smartphones. I've used the cameras on the iPhone 5 and N4 extensively. Also, Nice Supra in your avatar.

It is. I'll admit it is doesn't take great photos in low light until you mess with the settings and find what works. I don't think anyone's saying that its a great camera. It's up to par with the S3 and Iphone 5.

I would disagree. I find the camera and the focusing very poor, even compared to my iphone 4..! In bright light its fine, but i use my N4 mainly to scan documents, and i find that the quality is better and the focussing faster/accurate and sharper on the iphone.

Again, it gets annoying when people defend something that is not defendable.... if you look at most professional reviews they always mention the camera being the poorest bit of the N4. Otherwise it is a fantastic phone. Yes i have seen people take some fantastic pics, but for me comparatively i get better shots 1st time with the iphone than than the N4.

Must just be me then.. I've taken many photos on my N4 and they look fine to me. Although they do look sharper on the iPhone that's the only difference that I see (that and when flash is enabled on the N4 when you tap to focus the flash also shines for a second, very helpful)
