All cell phone plans factor in the subsidy of an on contract phone. Once I'm off contract I doubt my Bill will go down even though it should.

Incorrect, you're on contract because of the subsidized price of the phone. The plans cost the same on or off contract. You're making an agreement with them because they're giving you a discount on equipment.

If that were the case prepaid plans would cost the same as on contract plans. When I worked at Radio Shack our Sprint rep told me that the plan prices factor in the subsidized cost of a phone.

I just got off the phone with VZW and they said they didnt know what i was talkin about...i told them to notate my account..after 12 years of loyal service that if they canceled my unlimited i would go else where...and they WOULD let me out of my contract penalty free!!! i dont see how they can cancel anything MID contract and get away with it..i dont think theywant tovlose my 5 lines and air card service ..just sayin:-\

Someone's not paying attention. They will only change if you upgrade your phone with discount pricing. Full retail purchases won't change it and it stays grandfathered until you do. And if they decided they wanted to they could anyways. But that would be too much negative press for them. They love their reputation as much as they love full wallets.

You pay your bills. Verizon provides you service. Doesn't matter how long you've been with them.

Disclaimer: I've been with Verizon since the Sony Zuma was a new phone.

I just got an email back from the FCC. While they can't directly influence Verizon's pricing, they can put terms on the spectrum they license. They can tie them into commitments to make them more consumer friendly, etc. They said people should file a complaint on their website.

Remember, right now Verizon is attempting to gain access to some important spectrum.

You can also email daniel.mead@verizonwireless.com and let him know we aren't taking this lightly.

The FCC has absolutely zero power to influence pricing. Period. They are not legally able to include terms in the licenses that deal with pricing, and they certainly do not have the legal authority to affect verizon's business decisions. You are wasting your time.

No, but they can deny any more buy outs or spectrum buying. This is the reason they blocked at&t, t mobile deal and Verizon is giving more reasons not to allow then to get bigger. Time for the 2 big carriers to be slowed down

They do not have the power under their congressional authorization to deny a company the right to purchase spectrum based on plan pricing. They know it. Verizon knows it. If they believe Verizon is acting in an untoward manner, their only recourse is to sue them. They CANNOT use spectrum as a stick to force Verizon to change their prices.

The reason the att and T-Mobile deal was denied was because att fabricated much of their supporting data, lied about benefits to their companies and consumers, and would have substantially lessened competition. It has absolutely nothing to do with pricing.

As pointed out in another post, you haven't had true unlimited data in a year. You get high, you get throttled. Sad huh....but that is how it has been. I have a device, and when I hit 10 Gigs on it, it is practically useless because of VZW throttle. There you go, truth...or you can bite the "unlimited" still exist wool.

Last I read (and it's been awhile), Verizon only throttled excessive use on 3G.

True, Verizon only throttles its 3G network on towers that are congested.

Now that I'm thinking about it, since all lines on a family plan are on separate contracts I'm wondering if I can still use the upgrade on my dumb phone line to get the subsidized price in the future on a smartphone. That way my unlimited line won't be affected by contract and I can just throw the new phone onto my unlimited line. Then at least I'd still be able to upgrade. That would be ideal.
