3.5mm isn't bad, actually. It looks thinner on the panda than the black due to the white frame, but the bezel will disappear with black backgrounds on either color. I still wish the OLED panel corners had smaller radii but that's minor.

Bezel size looks a lot like the bezel size/shape on the Galaxy S8 Active. (Disclosure: My top two contenders for new phone is the Pixel 2 XL and S8 Active.)

I do want to hear more about that case the XL is pictured in. I like any case that gives you a full cutout for the power button and volume rocker instead of trapping them in plastic or rubber. And I'm convincing myself that those 3.5mm siderails we're seeing on the front of the XL are part and parcel of that fabled HTC squeezy feature (whatever it's called). They look a lot like the siderails on the front of the U11, to me.

True, although for the last couple of months I was using a phone with smaller bezels than last year's XL and I've gotten used to it. I'm ok with smaller bezels but I still don't think I want a phone without any bezels.

That puts my numbers and theirs <= .5 mm in either direction, so I feel like we're both in the same ballpark.

Old article from OnLeaks says 157.6 x 76.3 x 7.9 mm. Seems 2 or 3 mm too tall, but guess we'll see.

I'd agree there aren't any strikings ones. Maaaaaybe the Essential phone, not sure. I'm happy to still see flagships that aren't made out of glass. The ones that folks call "gorgeous", etc. like the V30 and S8, etc. are pretty garishly cheap looking IMO. Shiny doesn't equal gorgeous IMO.
