Finally got mine, initial impressions

Was reading the H8 user guide and found a way to raise the column during a call when it's already at max. Press the vol up button twice -- claims to raise it higher than normal max. Have not tried it yet.

Did you mean volume?

I have had the H8 for about four days now. The wifi range is great, about the same as my Note 7. The H8 Bluetooth signal is very stable. I haven't had any random discounts. I would say the Bluetooth range is about three-quarters of the range of my Note 7.

3/4 range for Bluetooth is fine...the Note 7 goes pretty far

Yeah, I'll probably test Google Play Music and other apps. I probably shouldn't have put it as a gripe, but more of a occurrence I came across

Just wanted to follow up on the previous comments I made regarding BT issues with streaming music; I've only been using Spotify on my Honor 8 and it's worked fine at streaming music, including displaying the song info, on my car stereo.

Last night, I decided I'd give Apple Music another try (I check it every now and then to see if it's gotten any better from the horrible mess it started out as). I tried it with my car stereo this morning and -- guess what -- no song info was displayed. lol

So in this particular instance, I'm thinking this issue may well be with the Apple Music app for Android. It's still in a pretty sketchy state, IMO, so _maybe_ this issue will get fixed with a future update. But that's just me guessing, so who knows for sure? :P

Interesting . glad to hear that it is an app issue, not a phone issue

Ok, been using the Honor 8 for 2 days now. One thing I've noticed with the autobrightness is it tries to hit the lowest visible for the lighting. In my bedroom, it drops to the lowest setting. In my office, it's at about 35-40%. The times I've had it be lower than was really visible was usually due to the light sensor facing away from any light source.

The light source issue is pretty normal for most smartphones...you can buy a phone with a rear ambient light sensor but it would cost you double what the honor 8 costs

Found another trick in the manual. From shortcuts, you can press and hold WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS etc to jump to those settings.

So far so good with the Honor 8. Let's see how the battery life holds up once I fire up all the installed apps one by one :-)

A week and a half of using the Honor 8, and I have to say I love it. It's fast, stable, the screen is sharp, battery life is great except for a couple of games I've tried. The smart key, both with gestures and presses, is an implementation that should definitely see more use. The bluetooth on mine has been much more stable than the Nexus 5X I was using previously. WiFi and cell signal has been improved over the Nexus as well. Also, as most of you with it know, you get some curiosity when people see the back glass.

As for improvements, I'd like to see more themes officially available, and charger availablity, both wall and car. We all are excited to see the improvements in EMUI 5.0.

My black Honor 8 is now in hand. Been getting apps downloaded, settings configured. Initial impressions:

1. For the size, it feels very solid. I'm coming from a Nexus 5x (was starting to have major heating issues and some problems), and the Honor 8 is a bit heavier with a great in-hand feel.

2. Setup was quick and easy, as should be expected.

3. The look... What can I say that hasn't already been said. This phone is visually a work of art.

4. Everything runs smoothly on it.

I'm going to enjoy the honeymoon period with this phone, but I think it's going to be a great daily driver.

Very nice to hear. Sometimes the devices in the $399 price bracket are nicer than the $600+ range :)

Well honor is selling the honor 8 at much smaller profit margins than a$600 smartphone.

Just purchased my Honor 8 a couple hours ago and it's great and unique. Definitely not like anything I've used before and the interface is seamless. Lots to like about this device.

I echo everyone's sentiments, just fix the notification shade and I am golden.
